Chapter 17

A New Champion?

          Morgana was preening and pretending not to notice the stares from the pokegirls around her while Nicholas introduced the newly evolved Gardevoir. “So, everyone, this is Morgana… She’s evolved into a Gardevoir, and, uh, grown a bit in the process.”

          Morgana tucked her hair behind her ear and smiled. “Hey there everybody.”

          Nicholas cleared his throat. It was a bit unnerving, to be honest. Just yesterday he’d been travelling with a quiet, self-conscious crybaby of a Kirlia. Today he was staring at a stunningly beautiful and confident Gardevoir that also happened to tower over him by a foot and ten inches. He’d checked.

          Still. It was definitely Morgana sitting across from him. And with her ability to apparently summon clothing for herself he was able to appreciate the color scheme he’d originally thought about for her. The inky black slit dress complemented her cyan hair perfectly, and Morgana’s white and silver accents, including gloves and, when she shifted enough to see her feet, high heeled shoes, were perfect to tie the look together.

          Nicholas’ eyes flicked to Morgana’s cleavage. Right, and then there was that. The silver necklace Morgana had received was a bit smaller on her now but it still fit fine. The Mega Stone rested just below her collarbone, a focal point on otherwise bare skin.

          Elaine smiled and reached over to take Morgana’s hands. “Congratulations, Morgana. I heard you thanking me yesterday, but whatever you did to achieve this was your own accomplishment.”

          Nicholas let out a relieved sigh when he saw tears start to bead in Morgana’s eyes. That was more like it. Beneath the confident, sexual surface was the Morgana he’d already come to know. And the one she herself had so often claimed to want to be. If this was all a result of her figuring out how to balance those two sides of herself, well, he was going to celebrate with her.

          “Unfortunately, in the excitement yesterday we never made it in the gym,” Nicholas said with a shrug. “Alpha, I thought that we could have the culprit take responsibility.”

          Bea frowned slightly. “Responsibility…?” She blinked when she realized what Nicholas was getting at. “Oh, I see. Yes, that would only be fair to the others.”

          “Eh?” Morgana flicked between the two. “What do you mean, Master? Alpha?”

          “Yesterday the plan was to have you as backup,” Nicholas explained. “Since that never happened, you’ll be leading us in today.”

          “Uh-“ Morgana hesitated for only a split second before her face smoothed and she rose. “I understand, Master. It’s true.” She wiped her eyes and smiled at the others. “It’s only fair.”

          Scattered chuckles applauded her resolve and Nicholas got to his feet. “Right. We’re off.”

          Nicholas did his best to ignore the looming presence behind him on their way to the Rustboro gym but Morgana made it impossible. “What about this, Master?” she asked again and Nicholas glanced back to see her pulling the slit of her dress open to reveal garters running up her leg.

          He quickly turned away with a cough. “Looks… real great, Morgana. Real great.”

          “Then why do you keep looking away?” Morgana pouted.

          Nicholas took a deep steadying breath and came to a halt. “Because my little Morgana is now a giant, beautiful pokegirl who is absolutely dead set on living up to her name.” He turned to look at her. Morgana had at least let go of her dress to let it fall back into place. “Haven’t you seen the attention you’re drawing? Morgana you’re already taller than any pokegirl or human I’ve ever seen. That makes you stand out, gorgeous looks or no. Having you just- just messing around with different styles of underwear while we walk is too much. It’s just too much!” He scrubbed his face. “I need to focus on the gym battle. I can’t do that when you’re flashing your panties at me every few minutes.”

          When he lowered his hands again it was to see Morgana squatting in front of him with a guilty look. “I’m sorry, Master,” she said. “I’ll… try to stop being me.”

          Nicholas’ mouth firmed. “No. That’s not what I’m asking of you. I could not be happier that you have embraced yourself like this. It’s just going to take me some time to adjust. Okay?” When Morgana nodded he took the opportunity to give her a kiss before pushing her back to her feet. “All of this is who you are. What I’ve said to Elaine applies to each of you as well. I want everything that you are. That means, for you, I want a confident, sexy, beautiful Gardevoir that… well.” Nicholas chuckled. “That is able to best me in bed. But I also want the rest of you. I want the Morgana who can’t help but cry when she sees her sister. I want the Morgana who cares so deeply for her harem sisters that she would be willing to harm herself for their sake. I want all of that. It’s just that right now I need to get used to the big and sexy part.”

          Morgana blushed. “Was I not sexy before, Master?”

          “Hey. Don’t you try and twist my words,” Nicholas laughed. “You were. I wouldn’t have named you the way I did if you weren’t, remember? But back then you were trying not to be. That’s all.”

          “Right.” Morgana hesitated, looking down at the ground when Nicholas took a few steps forwards. “Master?”

          Nicholas glanced back. “Hm?”

          “…Back then, I wasn’t trying to be.” Morgana looked back up at him. “But now, I think I’d like to be. Can you… watch me, for just a moment more, and tell me if I still am as sexy as the Ralts you first met?”

          Nicholas smiled at her. “You’re newly sexy in a completely different way. But yes. Go ahead.”

          Morgana nodded and composed herself. After a few seconds she stepped towards him.

          Nicholas watched the sway of her body. There were similarities in her stride to the nameless Ralts he had walked through Petalburg with. But it wasn’t the same. Not at all. She had grown, not just literally through her evolutions but also emotionally, figuratively, over time. When she reached his side he reached up to pat her shoulder. “The old you is still there, but there’s a lot more on top of her now.”

          “I see.” Morgana sighed. “Maybe if I…”

          Nicholas held up a hand when she tucked her hands behind her back and pushed her chest out. “What did I just say?”

          Morgana blinked at him before realizing and letting her shoulders slump forwards again. “Sorry, Master.”

          “I want to be clear that I’m enjoying the show,” Nicholas chuckled in an effort to wipe away Morgana’s dejected look. “We’ve just got something else we need to focus on right now.”

          He was successful and Morgana’s expression brightened before she bobbed her head. “Understood.”

          The two entered the Rustboro Gym and this time Nicholas had a chance to look around. The cavernous interior was broken up by multiple towering pillars of stone, each much, much taller than even Morgana was. The placement of them made it feel a bit like a maze.

          Nicholas nodded to himself. That’s probably what was going on. A maze of corridors to navigate. Pretty standard for a gym.

          “Well. No use standing around.” Nicholas turned and gestured for Morgana to lead the way. “Let’s go find the gym leader.”

          “No way, Morgana!” The harem watched in awe as the leaves swirling around Morgana followed her twisting fingers. “I had no idea you could do this!”

          Morgana found herself blushing pretty heavily from Bea’s praise. “Well… I couldn’t, not back when we were going over our abilities in Lavaridge. I learned this from my sister.”

          “Oh! When we passed through Verdanturf?” Bea clapped excitedly. “It’s excellent! I’d been trying to figure out how we could alleviate our Water-type weakness and here you are, able to control magical leaves!”

          “Yeah. Leader Roxanne was caught completely off guard,” Nicholas said as he joined the pokegirls. “Very well done, Morgana. Any other little tricks hiding up your sleeves? Or,” he glanced at her hands, “under your gloves.”

          Morgana dropped her control and allowed the leaves to flutter to the ground. “N-No, Master.”

          “Darn.” Nicholas grinned at her. “Well regardless. I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am to have seen you in battle today.”

          Morgana bowed her head. “Thank you, Master.”

          “Heh. Next time though, leave some for the rest of us, eh?” Elaine switched seats and did her best to throw an arm around Morgana. It was a losing battle. “Or do you want me to have to steamroll a gym when I evolve?”

          Morgana glanced up with a crafty smile. “It would make me happy if you did, Elaine.”

          “Oh ho ho ho!” Elaine and Morgana grinned at each other as the Combusken laughed. “You hear that Alpha! Our big sister over here says she’s better than us!”

          Morgana’s grin vanished. “Uh, no, I never said-“

          “Does she now,” Bea murmured. “Well. I believe extra training is in order then, don’t you Elaine?” When Elaine continued to laugh Bea smiled. “For those of us who aren’t as good as her.”

          That wiped the smile from Elaine’s face as well. “Er…”

          “Ladies, ladies,” Nicholas laughed and waved his hands to draw their attention. “There’s no need for these kind of games.” Elaine was starting to smile again when he matched her gaze with a smug grin. “I intend for you all to do extra combat training.”

          Elaine’s smile slid away as Nicholas got back to his feet. “Bea, get everyone ready to move. We’re hiking to Petalburg and fighting everything along the way!”

          “Where are you going, Master?” Bea asked curiously when Nicholas began walking away.

          “Champion Stone’s asked to see me at the pokecenter,” Nicholas replied. “Shouldn’t be too long. Make sure everyone is ready.”

          Bea bowed. “Yes Master.”

          Steven was waiting for him just inside the door and he raised a hand in greeting. “Yo, Nicholas. Glad I could catch you before you left the city.”

          “Sure thing. Did you make that thing already?” Nicholas asked.

          “Hm? Oh, no, no, it’ll take some time to get the, ah, parts ready,” Steven replied. “No, I was thinking, and if you’re going to be traveling all across Hoenn you’ll need some help.”

          Nicholas frowned. “Oh?”

          “Well, like Mt. Chimney, for example. How many days away from a pokecenter were you?”

          “Hm.” Nicholas nodded. “We made it down in a day because we were running, but I get your point. Usually that would have been two to three days from the closest town.”

          “Most of Hoenn is like that, uncut wilderness,” Steven explained. “So I pulled some strings. You know, as Champion and all.” He chuckled and turned towards the counter. “Come on.”

          Nicholas followed him to where the on-duty nurses were waiting and when they arrived one gave a quick curtsy. “Champion Stone. How can we be of assistance today?”

          “I’m looking for Lucy.”

          The girl curtsied again. “She is on break, sir. I will bring her here immediately.”

          “No, no, that’s fine. I’ll just go meet her.” Steven nodded at the door behind the counter. “May I?”

          “Of course, sir.”

          Nicholas followed Steven into the back rooms of the center. “Mr. Champion, sir.”

          Steven snorted. “Hey, come off it. It comes with the position. You know that.”

          Nicholas rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. I guess I never got out enough to be fawned over that much.”

          “Well excuse me for being the son of the man who owns this city,” Steven replied drily.

          Their banter was interrupted when Steven opened the door to a marked break room and ushered Nicholas inside. Two nurses were relaxing around a table and both quickly got to their feet when they saw who had just entered.

          “Please. Don’t let us interrupt your break,” Steven said before either could speak. “I’m looking for Lucy.”

          One of the nurses sat while the other raised her hand. “I am Lucy, sir.”

          “You’re being reassigned.” Lucy accepted the document Steven procured and started reading it over while he continued talking. “As of today I am your handler.”

          Nicholas glanced at Steven. “Handler?”

          “The World Leagues takes the assignment of their medical staff very seriously,” Steven replied. “Employees aren’t hired by the individual pokecenters but by each League itself, who then assigns them to their positions via a handler.”

          “Everything appears to be in order, sir,” Lucy said as she lowered the paper. “What is my new assignment?”

          “This tamer here.” Nicholas’ mouth popped open in surprise when Steven grinned and turned to him. “I will allow him to make his own introductions.”

          “Now hold on a second,” Nicholas blustered. “Are you serious?”

          “Completely. If you’re worried that Lucy won’t be able to keep up with your journey, I can assure you that she was once considered for the Elite Four’s medical team.” Steven nodded at Lucy. “I apologize for dragging you out of retirement like this, Lucy.”

          Lucy shook her head. “Please do not apologize, Champion Stone. I understand that you would not be personally assigning me unless this was a matter of true importance to the League.” She turned to Nicholas and gave him a slight bow. “If you would follow me, sir, we can take care of our introductions while I prepare to join you.”

          “I promise. I’m not just dumping some random nurse on you,” Steven muttered as Lucy exited the room. “The stuff about your, you know, upcoming gift, maybe keep that secret. But everything about the cults, what you’re attempting to do while traveling for your badge challenge, I trust her with all of that information.”

          Nicholas let out a sigh. “Thank you, I suppose, but I’d rather have a portable healing machine than a single nurse.”

          “So would I,” Steven chuckled, “but for now this is the closest you’re gonna get.”

          Nicholas shook his head and exited the break room, glancing both ways and moving towards where he saw Lucy patiently waiting. When he got closer she entered another door and he pushed inside as well to see what appeared to be an employee locker room of sorts. Lucy was busy opening one of them and he found a seat while he waited. “So.”

          “I am Lucy, as Champion Stone mentioned, sir,” Lucy said. “What should I address you as?”

          “I’m Nicholas Topolski. Nick or Nicholas is fine,” Nicholas replied. “I assume we’ll need to stop by your house or something to get your things before we leave?”

          “All pokecenter employees live at the center, sir,” Lucy explained. “Everything I own is already here.”

          “Ah.” Nicholas shrugged out of his bag. “Do you need your own tent?” He was checking through his supplies while Lucy moved about. “I know you’ve been assigned to help me quite suddenly, you’re probably not prepared to just leave-“

          “Why would another tent be necessary, sir?” Nicholas heard Lucy grunt softly, probably as she lifted something. “And preparation is not necessary. I do not need much to fulfill my duties.”

          Nicholas spared a glance at her before whirling around with his cheeks burning. Lucy had removed her uniform and was in the process of unbuttoning her bra. “Er, uh, for, um, privacy.”

          “Privacy?” Nicholas stiffened when he felt Lucy touch his arm. “If I am traveling with you, sir…”

          “I have a girlfriend!” Nicholas blurted out, sliding a seat away so that he broke Lucy’s touch. “And, uh, you’re quite beautiful, but, um-“

          Behind him Lucy was looking at him with a very confused expression. “A… girlfriend? Why does that matter, sir?”

          Nicholas winced. “Well this isn’t going to work. I’m not going to cheat on Sabrina even if it’s just for… however long we’re together. I get that you’re probably lonely and can’t really have a relationship with how busy you must be at work but-“

          Lucy’s expression slowly changed to a teasing smile and Nicholas jumped when she touched him again. He tried to inch away but the privacy didn’t last long. This time, he felt her bare nipples pressing into his back. “So… loyal. And yet you have so many pokegirls, do you not, sir?” Nicholas took slow, deep breaths as he fought to control his twitching penis. “Am I truly so different?”

          “My harem is different,” Nicholas managed to respond. “Pokegirls are different. I can’t- won’t- please, don’t do this. I’m flattered, really, but it’s not right.”

          “Not right?” Lucy leaned in closer and giggled right in his ear. “But I thought pokegirls were different?”

          Nicholas’ brain flatlined. “Eh-wh-whu-“ he felt Lucy press her breasts harder into his back and her fingers begin creeping down his ass. “You’re a-“

          “Pokegirl, yes,” Lucy purred in his ear. “I’m surprised you thought otherwise.” Another sultry giggle as her hand began moving towards the tent in his shorts. “Flattered, as you say. But surprised.”

          “But you look- look so-“ Nicholas swallowed, hard, when he felt her fingertips begin playing with his crotch. “-so… normal.”

          “Pink hair?” Lucy teased. “Identical to every nurse you’ve ever seen in a pokecenter?”

          “I, thought that was just the standardized uniform!” Nicholas cried. “Your eyes and skin and-“ he shivered when Lucy’s fingers successfully released the button and began working down his zipper. “-sure the hair and, and I know pokegirls can look very similar to humans but… I didn’t think…”

          “Mmm.” Lucy’s other hand was moving up his chest. “There are a few humans who work at pokecenters, but most of us are not.” She let out a surprised noise when the hand worming into his pants encountered his dick. “Oh, my. How did you manage to hide this?”

          “W-What are you, then?” Nicholas gasped.

          “I am a Chansey,” Lucy giggled. “While my sisters battle, my duty is to heal them. Maybe that is why you did not see me as a pokegirl. I do not lust for all the same things most others do.” She made another happy moan as her fingers wrapped around his shaft and Nicholas let out a strangled gasp of his own. “But for this… we are the same.”

          Nicholas’ bag tumbled to the ground, supplies spilling everywhere as Lucy straddled the bench he was on and began stroking his cock. “Are you… are you sure you can do this with me?” Nicholas managed to get out. “With all the talk of you being an employee of the League…”

          “I am. Which is why I am calling you sir,” Lucy said with another giggle. “But if you are my assignment then I see no issue having our, ah… ‘introductions’.”

          “…Right.” Lucy continued her handjob as she patiently waited for Nicholas to speak. “So you’re a Chansey. A pokegirl that specializes in healing?”

          “That is correct, sir,” Lucy replied. “If necessary I can heal during battle but I am most effective when given time to apply my ministrations.”

          “Any limits?”

          “Like any pokegirl my techniques drain my own energy,” Lucy explained. “I can heal anything short of complete exhaustion. For that, specialized medicine will be required.”

          “So you’re essentially a pokegirl potion,” Nicholas summarized.

          He wheezed when Lucy’s fingers tightened around his dick. “I am much more than that,” she said in a flat tone. “The potions humans create are a replication of my abilities. Not the other way around.”

          “R-Right!” Nicholas gasped when Lucy released her grip. “Forgive me.”

          “Hm.” Lucy let go of his dick and got to her feet. Nicholas was starting to catch his breath when he saw her appear in front of him and before he could protest she’d dropped onto his lap. Skewering herself neatly on his twitching member.

          “So.” Nicholas bit his lip when he felt something massaging his penis. Lucy wasn’t moving but somehow it appeared that her insides were and he cried out when he came. “I believe it is time for your introduction, sir. Tell me why I have been assigned to you.” When Nicholas made a move to pull out she wrapped her hands behind his neck with a sultry smile. “Don’t worry. I told you, yes? I am more than just some ‘pokegirl potion’. You will not have any limits while taming me.”

          Nicholas felt the blood draining from his face as he realized that what Lucy was saying was true. He didn’t feel any of the usual post-orgasm fatigue he usually did. He was still rock hard and buried fully in her pussy.

          “Now then.” Nicholas groaned when Lucy leaned forwards and her breasts squished up against his chest. They were large enough that she wasn’t able to get much closer but even that slight change in position had triggered another orgasm. “Tell me everything.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Elaine grunted in pain as Lucy moved her arm back into place. Her grimace seemed to relax a bit at the same moment that Lucy stopped and a sparkling aura spread from her hands to cover the Combusken’s broken limb. Soon Lucy was pulling away to leave Elaine flexing her hand in wonder.
          “There. All fixed,” Lucy said happily. “How does it feel, Elaine?”
          “It feels… great.” Elaine made a fist and swung her arm around, punching the ground before lifting it again with a huge grin. “Feels like new, actually.”
          Lucy beamed at her as the two got to their feet. As Lucy stood Nicholas saw her glance in his direction with a slight smile and he averted his eyes. Sure, he’d been staring, but he hadn’t expected this level of rejuvenation from the Chansey.
          It had been another week to traverse the Petalburg Woods that grew between Rustboro and Petalburg. The slow pace had mainly been due to the high concentrations of wild pokegirls within the forest, but also due to Lucy’s insistence in healing every injury the harem sustained on the spot. Nicholas rubbed his neck in embarrassment. It was his fault, probably. She was proving the skills he had doubted.
          Also to his embarrassment it had appeared that his harem was well aware of the nurse’s status as a pokegirl. He’d been the only one not in on the open secret that every pokecenter was manned by healer pokegirls.
          Now that she had been assigned away from a League facility Lucy had changed from her nurse’s uniform into a much, much more ‘pokegirl’ style outfit. He had a feeling that if he’d seen her dressed like this he’d at least have considered the possibility that the pink-haired woman wasn’t human. As it was, he’d focused more on the fact that she was in a uniform than anything else. A uniform that had undoubtedly highlighted her voluptuous figure, but also one that had covered most of her skin. Now Lucy was no longer holding back.
          The pink hair that she had tied up was loose, cascading over her shoulders with a few strands dropping in front to pool atop her breasts. For actual clothing she was dressed only in an extremely form fitting white minidress that split just below her breasts and looped around her shoulders. Because of the design Lucy’s breasts were shoved up and together, helped by the red lace bra that could be clearly seen below Lucy’s heaving cleavage. The dress separated below the waist, turning the lower half into two flaps, one in front, one in back, and every inch of skin of Lucy’s legs was visible. Well, it would have been if not for the stockings and garter belt that were on display. Nicholas grumbled to himself when Lucy turned again and the flaps of her dress flared up to reveal her bare ass. She knew how to make the most of her looks, he had to admit.
          Still, even though he knew she was a pokegirl and was targeting him with every over dramatized movement he had to ignore her the best he could. She wasn’t his. He looked over at Morgana and let out his breath, smiling at the towering Gardevoir. No, he had Morgana.
          …Who was walking over to Lucy as he watched. When she got close Morgana bent down and seemed to be whispering to her. After a minute Morgana curtsied and straightened back up but not before Nicholas saw her power flickering beneath her own dress.
          Shit.
          “Hey! Let’s get moving!” The scattered harem turned when Bea called and got back on the road, picking their way towards the city in the distance. Petalburg.
          Nicholas spared a glance towards the shoreline, some ways in the opposite direction, but shook his head and turned back to Petalburg after a moment. Mr. Briney wasn’t guaranteed to be home and even if he was he didn’t have anything to say to the old seafarer other than hello.
          “Right! Petalburg’s gym specializes in Normal-type pokegirls,” Bea called as she led the group into town. “Elaine, you’ll be leading us in.” She craned her head back. “Remember, Morgana showed her power by dropping every opponent Rustboro had to offer.”
          Elaine shot daggers at Morgana. “Yes, Alpha.”
          “Well you haven’t evolved yet so I suppose it would be unfair to expect the same from you,” Bea sighed. “I’ll back you up.”
          Elaine’s teeth ground together as she snarled. “Thank you, Alpha.”
          “Elaine.”
          Elaine’s furious expression instantly vanished when she heard Nicholas call and she turned to him. “Yes, Master?”
          “If you intend on doing what Morgana did you can’t fight like you did in Lavaridge,” he said. “What I saw was excellent. But you sustained far too much damage in order to achieve a single winning blow.” He moved through the small crowd to stand next to her. “I expect more from one of my pokegirls.” Elaine’s eyes slid shut and she shivered in pleasure when he stroked her cheek. “Am I understood.”
          “Yes, Master.”
          “Good.” Nicholas nodded at Bea and she nodded back. She’d started fitting into her position as the harem’s Alpha as well over these last few weeks. And Morgana’s insane evolution had made her start pushing the others much, much harder in an attempt to replicate it. “Then it’s settled. Elaine will be our lead today.”
          As they moved further into the city and towards the large gym building Nicholas let his attention wander. That was the street where Wally had been staying. Further down was the hotel they had stayed in. Where he had first tamed Morgana, and where he… had made his first mistake with Elaine.
          Nicholas returned his attention to the Combusken. It had all worked out in the end. The Elaine that strutted ahead of him was still chained, but now they were chains she had asked for. And that had made all the difference.
          Elaine’s head tilted slightly when she heard her Master’s quiet laughter but she didn’t need to ask to know why he was laughing. The group was walking past a small outdoor café. A familiar one.
          “Here we… go…” Bea came to a halt and the rest spread out around her. There was a grinning man standing in front of the doors to the gym.
          “Hmm, yes, you look about right. You’re Topolski’s harem, aren’t you?” The man scanned the group. “Where is he?”
          Nicholas stepped out into the open. “Hi there. I don’t believe we’ve met?”
          “No. But you’ve met a few of the people close to me,” the man replied and extended his hand. “My pokegirl and my daughter.”
          Nicholas fixed a smile to his face and took the man’s hand. “Sorry. You’ll have to be much more specific than that.”
          “I’m Norman. The gym leader. You met my daughter during that video shoot.”
          “Oh!” Nicholas’ smile grew genuine as he firmly shook Norman’s hand. “Then your pokegirl was the… Zigzagoon, was it? I apologize but I can’t remember her name.”
          “Not a problem. Her name is Mariline.”
          “Mariline, right.” Nicholas grinned. “Well how can I help you, Leader Norman?”
          Norman chuckled. “I should be asking you the same thing. I received a phone call from a sobbing woman last week warning me that a monster of a tamer was on his way.”
          “…Eh?” Nicholas stammered. “What did I do?”
          “Poor Roxanne was besides herself,” Norman explained. “One of the largest humanoid pokegirls she’s ever seen comes in and blows her harem away? That’ll leave an impression. Especially when that pokegirl is being commanded by a tamer who supposedly only has two badges.”
          Nicholas laughed nervously. “That’s right. I forgot to mention who I was.”
          “Two badges or twenty, that Gardevoir of yours is something else,” Norman replied. “So is she coming for me now?”
          “Only if she has to.” Nicholas turned and nodded at Elaine. “I figured I’d see if my Combusken has grown since Lavaridge.”
          “Silly me. Of course you’d plan your strategies around your opponents.” Norman grinned. “As thanks for helping Mariline I’d like to give you an opportunity to challenge me directly, Champion Topolski.”
          “Hey dad!”
          Norman and Nicholas both turned at the call to see May running up with a huge grin on her face. “Hey May! Where’s Mizune?”
          “She’s relaxing in the lake,” May replied. “Man, she’s really the only one you care about, huh? What about Cocoa? Or Laura?”
          “Yes, I care the most about your Alpha,” Norman grumbled. “Why wouldn’t I?”
          “Hey, Nicholas!” May called. “Long time no see!”
          “Hey there May,” Nicholas called back. “How have you been?”
          “Awesome!” May grinned. “I came home to beat up my dad.”
          Nicholas burst out laughing at the look on Norman’s face. “Oh yeah? How’d that go?”
          “Piece of cake,” May replied breezily. “I’m sure he just went easy on me.”
          Norman cleared his throat. “I’m sure I did. Nicholas, would you mind if my daughter watched our battle today?”
          Nicholas frowned. “Not at all. Were you wanting to have it now?”
          “Yes. I would.” Norman checked his belt and withdrew a pokeball. “I would like to see how you fare against one of my personal harem.”
          “Ah. Everything I have against a single one of yours.” Nicholas smiled. “I’ve had gym battles like that before. Should we head inside?”
          “Aye.”
          May and Lucy settled into the stands while Nicholas recalled the rest of his harem, leaving only Elaine to stand in the arena within the gym. Norman was idly tossing his pokeball from hand to hand while he waited for Nicholas to prepare and when Nicholas nodded the arena activated. “This will be an unlimited battle between myself and challenger Topolski. Once the challenger earns one point the battle is over. Substitutions are not allowed. Is the challenger ready?”
          “Ready,” Nicholas called.
          “Then begin!” Norman triggered his pokeball and crossed his arms. “Kiki. Activate the handicap.”
          Elaine was shaking. She couldn’t help it. The hulking pokegirl that had materialized across from her was as tall as Morgana. Maybe even taller. And unlike the Gardevoir’s delicate build, her naked body was covered in bulging muscles that promised a horrifying strength.
          For a few seconds the arena was frozen. Nicholas and Elaine staring at the monster that faced them, Norman and Kiki simply waiting.
          Then Kiki grunted. She procured a glass orb from somewhere on her body and raised it to her mouth, placing it between her molars before biting down. The crack of the breaking glass broke Nicholas out of his stupor and he began scanning their opponent.
          Purple liquid dribbled from Kiki’s mouth to stain her body fur and the Slaking herself shivered, hunching over a bit as whatever she had just ingested started to affect her. Nicholas finished listening to Kalmiya’s analysis and slowly put his pokedex away. “ELAINE!”
          Elaine barely heard his scream. Kiki had begun moving towards her and she couldn’t move. This… this… thing in front of her couldn’t be defeated. It was impossible!
          “ELAINE!
          Elaine jumped. “M-M-Master?”
          “Listen to me Elaine.” Nicholas pressed his palm against the forcefield in front of him. He could see Elaine trembling. He’d heard the fear in her voice. “This enemy is beyond you. You can’t win.” Elaine staggered as her knees threatened to give out. Hearing him confirm what she felt… but Nicholas wasn’t done. “Even so. Even though you won’t beat her, you can hurt her.”
          Elaine forced air through her lungs. That’s right. She wasn’t alone anymore. She didn’t have to defeat this enemy alone. Slowly her trembling body calmed and Elaine raised her face back to the approaching Slaking. “Command me, my Master.”
          Nicholas nodded. “She’s extremely powerful, but she has a fatal flaw. Every time she attacks she needs to recharge. We’re going to abuse that.”
          Elaine smiled. “I understand, Master. I suppose, just like Morgana… this is who I am.”
          “A pokegirl who needs to be controlled,” Nicholas replied with a flick of his wrist. “Aren’t you thankful that you’re mine?”
          Elaine chuckled darkly and raised her arms. Kiki was almost on top of her. “Yes, my Master. I am yours.”
          Kiki stopped in front of her with a snort. Elaine made no move to attack and the two stood for a while before Kiki’s fist clenched and her entire body torqued.
          The fist that crushed Elaine’s stomach came faster than the Combusken had expected. This monster of a pokegirl was quick, too. But if she could just hold on…!
          Kiki watched Elaine’s body tumble across the floor and slam into the forcefield. Elaine’s mouth popped open on impact, a pitiful whimper escaping before the Combusken’s head began to fall. Kiki snorted again and the entire arena shook when she dropped on her ass, eyelids drooping slightly as she let out a bored yawn.
          Then Elaine’s foot stomped forwards.
          Kiki blinked at the Combusken. Her body had stopped collapsing. Elaine’s legs trembled but she still stood and as her back straightened again Kiki growled. Elaine’s eyes were consumed by her flames and as Kiki struggled to get back up she roared.
          Kiki smashed to the floor when Elaine attacked, her kick returning all of Kiki’s strength and then some. Nicholas knew it was far too soon to celebrate, however. Kiki was immediately rebounding from the strike, something that had obliterated pokegirls of Elaine’s own level, with nothing more than a heavy bruise. “You will NOT fall, ELAINE!” He screamed. “ENDURE!” Elaine slammed her arms together, her flames exploding outwards as she poured all of her energy into defense.
          And… nothing came.
          Nicholas stared in confusion. Kiki slowly reached her arm back, but she did not attack. Instead Norman pulled a vial from his pocket.
          “I’m sorry, Nicholas,” Norman called. “Your analysis was correct. This is Kiki’s weakness, and your Combusken appears to have the will to exploit it. However.” He tossed the vial and Kiki snapped the top off, chugging the contents before throwing the empty potion away. “I’m not a gym leader because I allow my opponents to exploit my pokegirls so easily.”
          “No…” Nicholas felt cold as he watched Elaine stir, her energy bleeding away by the second. Every second that an attack did not come she lost more of her defense. “No. No, Elaine, you can do it!” Kiki’s hand drew back again, energy building in her fist as she focused on the unmoving Combusken. “ENDURE IT, ELAINE!”
          “If we do nothing, you will take advantage.” Norman spread his arms as Kiki sent her attack. “If you do nothing, we will do the same.”
          Elaine felt her resolve shatter and she screamed, a sound that immediately cut off when her ribcage shredded her lungs. Kiki pulled her fist back, shaking Elaine’s blood from her fingers, as the Combusken crumpled to the floor with a gaping hole in her chest. She’d had the will left to take the strike. But not enough defense to stop it.
          Nicholas quickly triggered her recall. He’d seen his pokegirls take damage like this before. In Kanto, he’d had to save them from the brink of death multiple times. But it still shook him, to see them in that state. And Kiki looked like she was preparing to do the same to every one of his harem.
          “Bea!” Nicholas released the Metang and pointed. “It doesn’t matter. You have to hit her as hard as you can!” Tears flicked from his eyes as he realized what he was ordering Bea to do. “I’m… I’m sorry.”
          Bea’s expression hardened. “I understand, Master.” Her power began to build across her body as she focused everything into one attack. “I saw what happened to Elaine. To sacrifice myself for you…” Her lips curled back. “An Alpha’s duty.”
          Kiki staggered back a few steps when Bea slammed into her but all the Metang got from her was a grunt. Bea, on the other hand, flew backwards with a scream as the recoil pounded her body. She was struggling up on one knee when she saw Kiki lift a foot. The expression in the Slaking’s eyes held no mercy. No restraint. Bea’s labored breathing calmed as Kiki slammed her foot into the ground and sent a shockwave tearing through the arena.
          She was happy that she hadn’t held back. There was going to be no second chance.
          The earthquake threw her to the ground and Bea almost laughed when she saw the chasm yawning beneath her. Maybe this was karma, she thought with a smile as the shattered earth closed over her. The pain she owed for being so selfish. Well. She felt her body break as the ground crushed her and her consciousness fled when the shockwaves blew her back to the surface.
          If it was, she was glad it had finally been paid.
          Nicholas recalled her twisted body in midair, covering his face when shards of rock and metal pattered against the field protecting him. Metal from Bea’s makeshift bra, he realized. The Metang had been horribly maimed after Kiki’s attack. And yet, he thought he had seen her smiling.
          Nicholas’ fingers closed on another pokeball. He could send out Morgana. The explosion of power she had gained from her evolution would come in handy here. But if she couldn’t finish Kiki off she would suffer a similarly horrific injury. Hell, how could any of them finish her off? The level of power he was witnessing was equal to or beyond any of his pokegirls. Any of them. Even Kali would not be able to take an attack from Kiki unscathed. None of the pokegirls he was currently training were anywhere close to that level.
          …Elaine. She’d withstood a blow thanks to her will. In that case, perhaps there was a way.
          Nicholas blinked when Kiki coughed, raising a hand to her mouth as something dribbled out. His eyes widened. Blood. Congealing blood, mixed with the purple liquid she had ingested. What had been in that orb?
          A handicap! Nicholas brought his attention to Norman. That’s right, this battle had to be somewhat fair if it was a badge challenge. The handicap must have been some form of poison, seeing how it was causing internal damage. If that was the case then this was a battle of endurance. Nicholas gritted his teeth. If only he hadn’t sent out Elaine first. She could have lasted forever with the right strategy.
          Nicholas grabbed the other pokeball and triggered it. “Aria!” He leveled his finger at Kiki. “This is no longer a battle to win. It is a battle of survival. Do not let her attack you!”
          “You’ve realized.” Norman grinned. Kiki was recovering from the massive earthquake and giving Aria time to prepare. “Kiki still has at least one more hit in her. But does she have two, Nicholas? What will you do? Sacrifice your pokegirl in the hope that Kiki won’t be able to withstand the toxin? What if she does?”
          Nicholas shook his head. “I’ve been battling under one strategy. It’s time to switch.” He grinned when Aria’s wings spread and the Swablu took to the sky. “Pokegirls aren’t just weapons. They have tricks, too.” Norman’s grin widened when he saw Nicholas’ savage expression. “I am a dragon master, Leader Norman. And this is the power of my dragon.”
          Aria swooped past Kiki, making sure the colossal pokegirl was focused on her before opening her mouth. The sound that came out was hauntingly beautiful as Aria sang.
          There were no words to her song but it still captivated everyone in the arena. Below her, as Aria continued to circle, Kiki felt her eyelids growing heavy. With a tired growl she thudded to the ground, eyes flickering until she crashed to the arena floor and began to snore.
          “I see.” Norman’s mouth twitched into a smile as Kiki continued snoring. Nicholas felt a twinge of fear as Aria landed. The Slaking’s breathing seemed to be getting… less labored. How? Even though she was asleep the poison should have been eating away at her insides.
          “There is only one issue with your plan, Nicholas,” Norman called. “Kiki regenerates when she goes to sleep.”
          “No.” Nicholas stared in shock. All of the damage Kiki had sustained up until now. It was gone?
          “Too bad,” Norman said. “If you had just sacrificed that Swablu you would have likely won.”
          With a frantic scream Aria sent a beam of energy crashing into Kiki but the Slaking didn’t even flinch and as the energy cleared Nicholas could see that she was undamaged. “NO!” Veins stood out on her neck as she screamed defiantly at the slumbering Slaking. “I WILL NOT FAIL MY LORD! I REFUSE!”
          “Aria…” Nicholas began.
          “I REFUSE!” Nicholas’ mouth popped open when Aria bent her head back and roared. Grace and beauty were a foregone thought on Aria’s mind as she brought her attention back to Kiki. Her eyes were wild with draconic power. Her body, strained to the extreme. Her face, twisted with her fury. And her entire body began to glow as she chanted.
          The sounds spitting past Aria’s lips were horribly ugly. Nothing like the beautiful song she had sung to put Kiki to sleep. Nor the notes her musical voice usually ended on during her sonic attacks. Each one grated against Nicholas’ ears and he found himself wincing with every incomprehensible word.
          Norman wasn’t doing much better and he tried to raise his voice over Aria’s vitriol. “KIKI!” He grimaced as the Slaking continued to snore. “WAKE UP AND STOP HER!”
          Nicholas screwed his hands over his ears when he heard sibilant laughter from the chanting pokegirl in front of him. She. Will. Not. Wake. Nicholas squeezed his eyes shut as a voice hissed through his mind. He wasn’t sure if they were the words Aria was saying or the words of the dragon in his blood, but he knew they were at least the snarling Swablu’s intent. He had never felt such raw and unfiltered hatred radiating from a pokegirl in his life.
          Kiki finally stirred. Norman was calling for her to get up as Kiki lifted her head to look at the glowing Swablu. She blinked woozily a few times before grunting and getting to her feet. As she did Aria’s words came faster, a desperate haste as the Slaking oriented herself towards her.
          Then Kiki stopped. Norman was shouting for her to attack but she was still. And without any attempt to cushion herself Kiki fell to her knees, then slammed face first to the ground. Unmoving.
          Aria similarly dropped to her knees, her words finally cutting off as she began to choke. Nicholas was staring in shock as Norman recalled Kiki, staring at the gasping Swablu in front of him. What had she done?
          In the stands May supported Lucy as the Chansey worked desperately to stay conscious. “Miss Lucy?” May babbled. “What is it? Are you okay?”
          Lucy grunted and May purpled when the Chansey slipped a hand beneath her dress. After a few seconds Lucy withdrew her hand and brought the fluid-covered object in it to her mouth. “…fine.” She retched as she swallowed the unfertilized egg whole but once it was down her breathing eased. “The barrier kept me from being completely affected.”
          Aria was fighting the darkness that threatened to consume her vision. She’d known that she wasn’t safe from her own attack. All who heard it were doomed to fall. And yet she struggled. Why? It would be so easy to give in, to slip into the void.
          …Because she refused to fail her Lord.
          Nicholas walked up as the glow covering Aria’s body strengthened. He wasn’t surprised to see the Swablu evolving here. Not in the slightest.
          It wasn’t much of an evolution. As Aria panted her body grew. Wings expanding, body extending, when the light faded she was almost the same pokegirl as before. Bigger, but her changes were nothing like any of the others had received. Her body was still devoid of feathers, her legs still capped by a pair of taloned feet.
          There was one major difference, however. When Aria opened her eyes to see Nicholas standing in front of her they were no longer a simple black. Now they shone with a violet sheen from the curtain of white that had fallen over her face.
          Nicholas reached down to help her to her feet but his hand stalled in front of her face. He’d felt Aria’s draconic nature from the beginning – from the night he had tamed her, and she had challenged him with a hiss. Since then she hadn’t showcased it much. Her attitude, her resolve, he’d seen it inside of her. But it appeared more than just her eyes had been altered through her evolution. Within Aria’s panting mouth a new set of razor sharp fangs gleamed. Now it was also her body that made her a dragon.
          Aria’s heart quickened when Nicholas cupped her chin, his thumb pulling her cheek back so he could get a better look at her teeth. The darkness was fading. This close to her Lord it held no power over her.
          “Stand.” Aria stiffened at the quiet command. Nicholas let go of her face as the newly evolved Altaria smoothly got to her feet. She’d grown taller than him, too. Not by much. But by enough for it to be obvious. “Hmph.” Aria remained silent as he looked her over. “You will have your reward.”
          Aria exhaled slowly. The action formed a thin cloud that swirled out of her open mouth before dissipating into the air. “Thank you, my Lord.”
          “Well?” Nicholas looked over at Norman. “I saw you recall Kiki. Is it my victory?”
          Norman shook his head slightly. “It is. But I’m curious why your pokegirl hasn’t collapsed yet. I highly doubt she is immune to her own technique.”
          “I told you. I am a dragon master,” Nicholas replied. He glanced back, pushing Aria’s long white hair away from her face with a smile. “This is the power of my dragon.”
          Norman snorted but withdrew a badge. “Fine. I can tell when I’m outmatched. Congratulations, Nicholas.” He glanced up at where May was seated before looking back down at him. “Thank you for the show. I think my daughter learned quite a bit.”
          “My pleasure.”
          Norman chuckled. “I’d try and get you two to battle but I know you’d be the one outmatched.”
          Nicholas’ eyebrows rose. “Oh?”
          “She demolished me in order to earn her sixth badge,” Norman explained. “I didn’t hold back with her, either.”
          “Sixth?” Nicholas glanced up at the stands. “She’s already earned six?”
          “I was once considered for the Elite Four, you know,” Norman said conversationally. “I made sure my daughter would be a prodigy, a tamer the likes this region hasn’t seen before. I’ve seen your little challenge, and I promise you.” Norman smiled. “May will not surrender her title to you easily.”
          Nicholas chuckled. Even though the battle was long over the two men were still bristling at each other. “Seems rather presumptuous to be calling her Champion already.”
          “Maybe it is.” Norman captured Nicholas’ hand in a death grip. “We’ll see.”
