Chapter 8: The One in Which the Third Party May Be Revealed

Scarlet Devil Mansion, Somewhere in Edo

Things had been relatively quiet at the Scarlet Devil Mansion for once, or so the Head Maid, Izayoi Sakuya thought it was. She hadn’t had to break up any arguments amongst the various Pokegirls that called this grand residence their home. Of course she hadn’t had to discipline the lazy gate guard, seeing as she was currently absent. And the most that had happened today at all had been the occasional summons from the Mistress.

Even then it was usually just to bring in the occasional refill of her cup of tea and snacks every few hours. The Mistress may be over three centuries old, but in many ways she still acted like a little girl.

Maybe it was because of the Template the Creator blessed her with? She wasn’t sure, but Mistress could certainly be as childish as her diminutive form might lead you to believe on first glance.

Still it was strange not having that troublesome Meiling around. For all the grief she had caused Sakuya, the two were still long time companions and friends. You don’t go to war with the whole of humanity without making a friend here and there, especially if that same troublesome gate guard was your squad mate.

The residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion had all been together since the War of Revenge had started, sure there had been others that had come and gone, but the original squad was still together even after three centuries.

The credit for such and accomplishment went to Remilia Scarlet naturally, she had been a great leader during the War of Revenge, and that had continued being so in her role as the Mistress of the House.

She had been dusting one of the numerous bookshelves within the study, when the sound of a crash came from what she assumed was Patchouli’s Library, by the sound of it.

Making her way down the hallway to the entrance to the library, the Kunoichi maid made her way in after knocking on the door, and receiving the appropriate if muffled response from its occupant.

Her eyes were greeted to the unusual, but not at all uncommon sight of a mountain of books having fallen off one of the massive bookshelves within the great room. Within that mound of miscellaneous literature was the Elementalist Patchouli. The Librarian was currently muttering curses under her breath as she attempted to pick her way out of the pile of books that had fallen about her.

“Will you be needing any assistance Mistress Patchouli? “Inquired Sakuya, one of her slim eyebrows rising a bit, when she viewed Patchouli shaking out her violet gown like she often had to with the rugs, and saw a tome of some sort roll out from the bottom of the trim of the voluminous piece of clothing.

“Oh! Sakuya you arrived just in time. Yes I would greatly appreciate some assistance in cleaning up this mess. That brat Marissa broke in here once again and made off with another of my books!” was the frustrated reply of the purple haired bookworm.

Sakuya was not surprised in the least by this, considering that Meiling was missing, no one was there to keep the kleptomaniacal Sorceress at bay.

Sure she could have guarded the gate herself in Meiling’s steed, but then there’d be no one to see to the Mistress’ needs, which of course were far more important.

Sakuya just gave a small sigh; this had actually been getting more common of late. Without Meiling around little incidents like this had been popping up more and more often. Granted she was asleep more often than not, but at least she was able to keep that little thief out.

Patchouli just frowned in thought for a moment, and turned to look at the unresponsive Sakuya, who had a far off look to her eye.

She smiled a little and placed a comforting hand on the distracted maid’s shoulder, an action which got its own smile of gratitude in return.

“Let’s get to cleaning then shall we?” Sakuya asked rhetorically as she bent over and picked up the first of what promised to be many books.

*In the Room of Remilia Scarlet*

Remilia Scarlet, Mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion was sitting at her desk in thought. In hand was her customary cup of tea, which she quietly sipped on before placing it on the small plate before her.

A look of concentration was on her deceptively youthful face; her crimson eyes were also closed in her introspection.

With a nod, she opened her eyes and looked out the patio door of her private quarters; the sun was low in the sky, painting it mixture of pinks and reds, a clear indication of the onset of night. Only 24 more hours until her little plan was to begin, the Limbecs would pay dearly for kidnapping a member of her household. She was however all too aware of the other prisoner the Limbecs had in their grasp, reports from one of their insiders certainly indicated this at least. Who would have guessed a Psi-dyke of all breeds of Pokegirl would be a willing informant amongst the group that so many of their kind were members of? She had been getting information from Melanie the entire time that Meiling had been in their grasp, it was truly fortuitous that she just so happened to get that transfer to that particular vessel. It would seem fate was on their side.

“Soon Meiling, your path will become obvious, what will you do once you have returned home? Will you decide to stay and continue to live in peace and serve as my guard, or will you choose to adventure once again with the man that so resembles your beloved?” She mused, her previously neutral expression shifting into a wicked little grin.

“I already have a good idea of which choice you shall make, but maybe you will prove me wrong this once…I doubt it though. I always have been especially good at reading the lines of fate.”

Her smirk had not faded one bit, if anything her devilish little grin had increased in its magnitude. Her eyes began to shine with an inner luminescence, now glowing scarlet.

“Hmm…I wonder if this young man will prove to be as interesting as the last one Meiling brought home, I would hope so...it has been far too boring around here.” She trailed off with an amused giggle, smirk still very much in place.

She was shaken out of her thoughts by the sound of overly enthusiastic knocking. It could only be one person, her dear sister Flandre, always the excitable one. Her smirk changed into the expression she often wore when dealing with her sister, one that spoke of a great deal of patience.

“Come in Flandre, there is no need to break the door down.” Was her amused reply to her sister’s exuberance, even present when asking for admittance into a room.

The door was opened with an unnecessary amount of force, practically flying open. There stood the equally diminutive form of the Scarlet Devil’s dear sister, Flandre Scarlet. Flandre was only five years her junior, another experiment conducted by the creator using a similar series of genes to her own, though her typing as a Pokegirl was different, which meant that their blood was not as close as human siblings would be , the two still called each other sister regardless.

“Good evening Remi!” Was the enthusiastic greeting of the little blonde terror, who made her way to her smiling sister to hug her in greeting.

“Good evening Flandre, I trust your day was well?” Inquired Remilia in reply to her sisters greeting. Flandre’s eyes lit up even more in excitement, if that was even physically possible.

“It sure was Remi! I played with Cirno and the others for most of today! I even managed to not squish any frogs today! ”Flandre remarked enthusiastically her arms moving about to express her excitement.

“Come sit down sister, you can tell me more about your day in detail.” Remilia offered, indicating her dining table, where numerous comfy looking seats were already set up.

“Sure, but only if you get Sakuya to bring up some sweets!” Flandre replied. “And some fresh blood would be great too. Oh and how is the plan to get China back going Remi? ”Inquired deceptively young looking Hunter Demon-Goddess, who because of her genetics, was as tall as her sister.

Remilia’s fond expression shifted to her familiar devilish smirk, her eyes once again lighting up in her excitement.

“Very well dear sister, our allies and informant are making preparations to strike as we speak. I will be deploying you and Sakuya the day after tomorrow around noon, after you have had a suitable meal of course.” Remilia replied.

Flandre’s childishly innocent expression similarly shifted into what could only be described as one of anticipation, her own scarlet orbs lighting up as well.

“Excellent Remi, you always give me the fun assignments.” Was Flandre’s eager response to her sisters orders, even if they came more in the form of a matter of fact reply, she knew them for what they were.

“I try dear; I know how you need to unleash certain urges. It is simply fortuitous that those simple minded fools decided to cross me by taking one of those under my command.” Remilia replied, her smirk turning predatory much like Flandre’s. “After all when someone harms those under my command, I will always take immediate offense. You’d think those fools would know that by now. Goodness knows we’ve earned enough of a reputation, even if our identities are not known to the Limbecs and Teams directly.”

The two vampiric siblings smirked at each other, eyes glowing in eerie unison, as they both began to giggle at the thought of dealing with those fools.

“Indeed my sister, and dare I ask what level of destruction would be appropriate for this assignment?” Flandre asked, doing her best imitation of looking innocent, despite the nature of her question.

Remilia appeared to either be fighting off the urge to either snort in an unlady like manner or the urge to laugh evilly at the “innocent” question her sister asked.

“Make sure that the other captives those fools have are rescued safely, otherwise you are given free rein to cleanse as much of the filth as you see the need to. Do try not to kill the innocent though…it is so troublesome having to deal with the repercussions that can have on our collective karma. ”Remilia replied with a sigh.

While she did not mind doing as the Creator had ordered during the War, she had in the centuries since come to find mankind very amusing in their behavior, and an especially welcome source of food. Her comment about the karmatic effects of killing innocents though, was just a warning about not going overboard so to speak, in killing everything in her path; after all they needed a few survivors to spread the word of their wrath.

“I will do my best to leave a few survivors amongst my prey sister; goodness knows that will be a bit difficult with our Allies involved in the attack.” Flandre replied matter of factly, which was very true considering their Allies’ history with the Limbec Pirates.

“Very true Flandre; those three tend to be very indiscriminate in killing pirates don’t they? Hmm better make this as quick and clean of a rescue as you can then. Still take the time necessary to fully unleash your urges. ”Remilia said thoughtfully.

“Should I consult with Sakuya and Patchy about strategy then Remi?” Inquired the little bundle of cuteness and destruction, which was Flandre Scarlet.

“Definitely consult with them Flandre, this will not be your typical seek and destroy mission. You do have hostages to rescue after all, chief among them being Meiling and that Author. He will be a valuable resource of information and amusement.” Replied Remilia her grin turning playful towards the end.

“Whatever you say Remi!” Flandre declared with a mock salute, her head tilting slightly toward the door. She was indicating if that was all and if she could leave.

“Yes you may go, and have a good night dear.” Remilia dismissed her sister, a fond smile replacing the previously displayed bloodlust.

Her sister nodded her head in thanks and said a quick ‘good night’ of her own before rushing out of the room and still managing to shut the door more carefully on her way out.

Remilia shook her head in amusement, as she once again picked up her tea and took a sip. Her sister had so much trouble staying focused some times; she had run off once again without staying for the snack she wanted.

“Oh well more for me!” she concluded with a delighted giggle.

Truly the Scarlet Sisters and their fellow residents of the Scarlet Mansion were an interesting bunch. Many of those who dwelled within were mercurial in their moods, angry one moment and happy the next. Pleasant one moment and bloodthirsty a few seconds later. This however was fairly common amongst the populace of this little wonderland that lay hidden amongst the isles and landmasses that made up the Edo League. And to think that the Creator was responsible for this place too, even if he had never intended this place to exist.

Gensokyo was a land built by the technology that the Creator had left behind, even if the populace of this land of fantasy lived a lifestyle that would have been more appropriate for those living in the far isolated portions of Edo, with limited access to the highly advanced technology of the outside world. This land that was built by the forces of Sukebe that had survived his War, was at least one safe haven from a world that had become far crueler to those that were different.

Truly the people of Gensokyo were among the few that truly thanked the perverted techno wizard that had changed the world so much three centuries ago.

*Brig of the Bloody Dagger 20 Hours before the Rescue*

Things had been pretty quiet today aside from the howling and mad ramblings of variations of the word Lupina coming from the cell down the hall.

Corren and Meiling had spent much of the last day talking on and off between periods of rest. Some food has been brought by his former captive, the Psi-dyke he now knew by the name of Melanie.

It really hadn’t been much, just some bread and water, enough to keep them from starving at least. Oddly enough Melanie didn’t seem to hold much of a grudge against him for taking her hostage like he had upon their initial encounter. In fact she had said that her superiors had expected nothing less from an Author, or so the higher ups in Sanctuary had taken to calling his kind.

He found the fact that they willingly placed one of their own in danger, knowingly put her in a predicament that very well could have meant her death, did not sit well with the imprisoned extra dimensional cashier.

Meiling had made some rather snide remarks about the heritage and legitimacy about the Limbec Pokegirls in charge of this little operation. And had said something to the effect of:  “Not being at all surprised that trash like these pirates would do that.”

Her vehemence about her claim was understandable, since according to her, she had dealt with their kind before, but this was the first time she had been successfully captured by them. She had apparently been on a currier assignment from her Mistress, when she had been ambushed by the Limbecs.

She had not said what form of transportation she had been using, but he assumed it was either by teleportation or by boat. If the Limbecs had any mages amongst their ranks, then teleportation blocking and even interrupting a teleportation would be feasible, given what he knew of the mish mash of magical styles that had been incorporated into this world.

It had been after their little talk about her reason for being captured, that something had occurred to him, the fact she had said Mistress.

‘Oh great, that could only mean one thing. The bloody Scarlet Devil herself exists in this world! Why on Earth didn’t I figure this out sooner? The fact that Hong Meiling exists here should have been enough of a hint that the rest of the bunch were probably here too! And I can only imagine what is going to happen now that these fools have Meiling! I mean I assume that since Meiling has a mistress here to it couldn’t be anyone else! Coincidences like this do not happen in this world. EVER!

It had not been long after he had come to this conclusion that something odd happened, he heard the voice of another unfamiliar female interrupting his musings.

“Hello!? Can anyone hear me!?” was what the unknown voice was shouting.

A look of confusion crossed Corren’s face at hearing this voice, he had assumed that there were only three prisoners in the brig .

“Hey Meiling, is there someone else in here with us aside from that annoying Lupina?” Corren inquired of his cell mate.

The red haired woman shook her head as if she had been fighting to stay awake; a tired look was present in her eyes. If she could have she probably would have been rubbing at them.

“Yeah I think there’s someone a cell or to down the way, why did you just notice them?” She asked looking quite curious.

“Umm yeah it’s kind of hard not to, what with her yelling and all. And how come you didn’t mention her earlier?” Corren replied with a grimace, as the yelling of the unknown female took on a louder and almost banshee like quality to it.

“HELLO!? IS THERE ANYONE THERE!? I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU ARE!!” Fairly shrieked the still as of yet unknown female’s voice.

The only thing that really gave her gender away was the pitch of her voice, which if she were not shouting herself horse, it might have been a soothing tenor, not too high or low. As it were however her shouting was grating on his already heavily frayed nerves.

Meiling looked a bit sheepish, and might have scratched her head in embarrassment were her arms allowed more mobility.

“Well I was a bit distracted for a while upon first meeting you…and it certainly doesn’t help a girls mind when a nude male is before them for the better part of a day or two.” She had started out sounding a bit embarrassed about her initial outburst during their first encounter, but subtly her voice took on a bit of a teasing undertone as she progressed in her explanation.

‘Well that is true…she IS a Pokegirl after all.’

He was a bit embarrassed at the mention of his continued nudity, it’s not like he had a choice in his state of dress though, what with being tortured and all.

“Fair enough I suppose. I would have liked to contact this person before though; no one deserves to think they are alone like she seems to think she is.” Corren remarked with a nod of his head toward where he thought the annoyingly loud shouting was still coming from.

“True, though I wish she’d shut up, she’s worse than Mistress Flandre on a sugar rush in how loud she’d being.” Complained Meiling, unknowingly confirming Corren’s earlier suspicions that there MUST have been more of the Touhou cast within this world.  If Hong Meiling herself had an analog here, there was now no doubt in his mind that the rest were too, like he had thought earlier there were no coincidences like that where this world was concerned.

“Hmm, I’d like to discuss this mistress of yours later; I have a very strong feeling that I may know who she is.” Replied Corren his tone sounding contemplative.

“You KNOW of the Mistress!?” Was Meiling’s shocked response. Her face was a mask of comic disbelief.

“Like I said we’ll talk about that later Meiling. I want to get that girls infernal shouting to stop, or at the very least for her to stop shouting the same thing. ”Corren said with evident frustration in his voice.

“YES THERE IS SOMEONE HERE! CAN YOU NOT HEAR US SPEAKING!!?” Meiling shouted in reply, apparently taking the frustration evident in Corren’s voice as a cue to get their fellow prisoner to shut up.

What sounded like an ‘eep’ of surprise was their answer to Meiling’s shouted statement.

“Who’s there!? Are you in the brig for causing trouble like I am?” Was the quieter but still shouted reply of whoever had been the cause of the earlier racket.

“Ugh…enough with the shouting already.” Groaned Corren his face scrunched up in a visible wince. Taking a deep breath Corren looked ready to reply.

“NO WE”RE JUST SITTING HERE FOR THE SAKE OF IT!  Of course we’re here for causing trouble! Well at least Meiling is from what Grimmy McGrim-Goth said yesterday. So do me and my companion here a favor and just stop shouting, I can hear you just fine without you shrieking like a fucking Siren!”

Meiling looked at her cellmate that resembled her beloved so much that it almost felt like a physical blow to her heart, in a look of shock which quickly degenerated into giggles at his frustration.

Corren took notice of his madly giggling cellmate, and made a sour face at her.

“Laugh it up China, laugh it up.” Was his flat response to her giggling, which caused her to start full out belly laughing at him.

Before he could make any more remarks or start muttering choice words about annoying red heads who found humor in his suffering, they were both interrupted by another reply from their fellow prisoner.

“Sorry about that sir! My name is…well I guess I haven’t been officially named by anyone yet but my last master called me Sparky!”

If Corren were not restrained and were able to he would of face palmed.

‘Wonderful…just wonderful…we a have loudmouth named Sparky of all things here with us!’

Evolves: None

Evolves From: Vampire (Dawn Stone)

Although a vampire is a ferocious and vicious fighter in many cases, she will also often be inclined to play the role of an elegant, noble lady when tame. Should she come into contact with a dawn stone, however (a highly irregular occurrence), this inclination will become fully realized. Evolving into a Starlady, a vampire loses most of her more primal vicious tendencies, instead becoming fascinated with the elegant and beautiful.

Physically, this can be reflected by drastic change... or none at all. The primary deciding factor is what her feelings in relation to her own appearance are; if she feels that her breasts are too small or large, then they may gain or lose up to one cup size. If she is displeased with the color of her hair, then it may gain highlights or change to a different color. If she feels that she isn't tall enough (or that she is too tall), she may grow or shrink by a few inches, et cetera. Such changes can affect almost any part of her body, but never to an extreme degree with limitations along the lines of the given examples. One aspect that will not change, however, is that her fangs must remain (sometimes to the extreme annoyance of the Starlady) so that she may feed. Interestingly enough, she also gains an immutable form enhancement that prevents techniques such as Bloom powder or Buttsprout from having any effect on her now "perfect" body.

Mentally, the changes are less variable, however. Be it her wardrobe, which is most definitely not suited to the budget of your average tamer, her fighting style, or even taming, elegance is central to a Starlady’s life. Of course, as with her appearance, this elegance is not something that is standardized between members of the breed; each Starlady will generally have her own idea of what is elegant. For example, one Starlady might find roses to be the ultimate in elegance, and so base her attire, hairstyle, etc entirely around roses, whilst another might imagine that no attire could possibly add to the elegance of her body, and so she might prefer to go unclothed.

When it comes to the fighting style of a Starlady, her obsession with elegance translates into a philosophy that is nearly opposite to that of her evolutionary counterpart, the Lucarda. Whilst a member of the latter breed will often allow herself to be hit many times, only to regenerate, a Starlady prefers to never let herself get hit even once. To this end, she will generally fight using illusions, speed, flight, and the "Shadow" techniques to avoid taking a hit, while counterattacking with sword techniques of her own (a form of combat that most Starladies consider to be the most elegant, and one that is very useful in conjunction with Shadow). Despite her numerous enhancements that would theoretically negate a great deal of damage, however, if a Starlady does take a hit, especially one that has an obviously inelegant effect on her body, her fighting prowess will often decline as she becomes distraught and sidetracked. As such, although the first hit is quite hard to get in, the odds are that the more you hit, the more likely you are to be able to hit again.

On the subject of harem dynamics, a Starlady can be a bit troublesome. Although not generally insistent, she will often attempt to subvert the fashion senses of the other members in a way that brings them closer to her image of elegance, and this is doubly true for the tamer. Resisting this is not a particularly wise course, but it will not generally drive too much of a rift between her and the harem... unless her tamer refuses to allow the Starlady her elegance or she finds another 'girl on the harem particularly inelegant. Whilst the first is not often a problem, since the Starlady's idea of elegance will often develop parallel to that of her tamer while she is a vampire, on the rare occasion that it is, she will generally act extremely cold to the tamer, even to the point of risking feraldom, and little short of a Level 5 taming cycle will make her relent. In the latter cases, she will generally attempt to undermine said 'girl, or find some way to change her into a more elegant form. As such, as long as a tamer doesn't object to having a highly elegant harem, a Starlady is a decent alpha choice, and any tamer willing to give her this power will have earned an extremely elegant “consort” whose loyalty knows few bounds.

In addition, since what a Starlady considers to be elegant varies greatly, so do what sexual positions she will find acceptable. As such, it is impossible to accurately enumerate any breed-standard preferences, and, despite their generally high libido, a Starlady can be as prudish as a Seraph or as amorous as a Succubus. However, it might be noted that some Starladies derive a thrill from being forced to deviate from what is elegant, although figures on how many are sketchy. In any case, if you are going to forbid her to be elegant, this is one place that it might not end badly; since a Starlady’s feral state is not at all elegant by her normal standards. Similarly, most Starladies will be willing to overcome any feeling about their method of feeding being inelegant, because starving to death is much more so.

Finally, a Starlady’s feral state something of a parody. Feral Starladies still believe that they are elegant, but their idea of elegance is somewhat comical, often taking the form of clashing, mismatched clothing, hair worn in an amusing style, clumsiness, et cetera. They will normally avoid people, however, finding most of them to be “inelegant” by her new standards. When one attacks her, though (especially a well-dressed person, who is ironically her most probable hunter), she can become quite the threat, and extreme caution is advised. Threshold is generally considered impossible as of 300 AS, due to no Starlady having yet achieved her second puberty

KUNOICHI, the Ninja Pokégirl

Type: Very Near Human

Element: Normal/Dark

Frequency: Common (in Edo League), Uncommon to Rare (all other Leagues)

Diet: omnivore, prefers human style food

Role: spy

Libido: Average

Strong Vs: Dark, Ghost, Psychic

Weak Vs: Bug, Fighting

Attacks: Smoke Screen, Vanish, Throwing Star, Quick Attack, Shadow Dash, Hazy Vision

Enhancements: Enhanced Speed and Agility (x4), Enhanced Senses (x2), Enhanced Strength (x2), Enhanced Endurance and Durability (x2), Stealthy, Night Vision

Evolves: Cheshire (Cat E-Medal), Kunimitsu (Fox E-Medal), Karima (Diamond Stone)

Evolves From: Ninjette (normal)

Towards the middle of the war, while the human armies were being decimated left and right, Sukebe created this breed. First given the mission of searching out and destroying small encampments and given anti-ambush roles, the Kunoichi graduated as the Ninjanezumi suffered- their Very Near Human state made them much more capable of passing as human women and getting past human guards with ease. Once given their mission to assassinate certain people- human generals, admirals, and even certain actors that Sukebe hated, the Kunoichi were practically the best at their field that the world had ever seen. Or never seen, perhaps, until after the war was over. Information about them was, however, gained during that latter part of the war from disaffected Ninjanezumi that were tamed by the first Tamers, but it wasn't until about 12 AS that the first recorded Kunoichi were captured.

This breed was originally created to fill a niche. Whereas the Ninjanezumi had proven squeamish in comparison to the other Pokégirl types and some had even been captured by the humans before fulfilling their missions, and the Cheshire had been created from Catgirls, the mad scientist himself took it upon himself to create a breed that could blend in with humans, act and talk and physically look like a human woman, but was in all other ways superior. The end result was the Kunoichi. Their actual capabilities, although somewhat less than the Ninjanezumi, ironically made it easier for the Pokégirl to imitate human women. Although not designed specifically for battle, the Kunoichi are also well equipped to fight in one. Their natural stealth capabilities, as well as her enhanced senses, speed, and agility often allow the Kunoichi to evade long enough for an opening to appear, and then to quickly capitalize upon it. Kunoichi prefer to attack from the shadows, and rarely battle straight out in the open in keeping with their style.

Most Kunoichi average in height somewhere between 5' and 5'7." They usually can be found in the same size as equivalent human woman of these heights, but their breasts are most often somewhere between a B-to-C cup in size. However, several have been documented both with smaller and larger breasts regularly, which makes this a rather diverse breed. Although most Kunoichi do prefer to wear tight fitting and not-so-revealing clothes, it has been documented that they do prefer to wear clothes that allow them to blend in with the location that they are in. In modern times, Kunoichi have been well known to get along with Seamstress Pokégirls, and generally prefer to get their clothes from one whenever possible, rather than from a department store. However, even if attempting to pass herself as some other Pokégirl by disguising herself, a Pokédex can pick out a Kunoichi in hiding easily.

Kunoichi have rivalries with two different Pokégirl breeds. One is with the Cheshire. Their areas of expertise are identical, and this rivalry is more often a common friendly rivalry, rather than one where each Pokégirl would want to destroy the other in battle. Researchers suggest that Cheshire and Kunoichi should not ever be in the same Harem at the same time, however, as each one will attempt to out-do the other in all ways, including taming. Taming both at once has only yielded one Tamer who managed it... and he wound up trading both away within a week afterwards, swearing to stick to Low libido Pokégirls from that moment forward. According to research done, Kunoichi can even evolve into a Cheshire through the use of a Cat E-Medal, although very few Kunoichi will allow this.

In the Edo league, Kunoichi also have some rivalry with Ronins. This is likely because of the difference between the two Pokégirl battle ideologies. Whereas a Kunoichi is subtle and more of a supportive Pokégirl, the Ronin are in your face and full out attackers. Ronin actively pursue the rivalry, while the Kunoichi try not to encourage it. This leads to Ronin being annoyed by the lack of participation and encouraged to try and provoke a Kunoichi at any given opportunity. As a result, Researchers also suggest that Tamers not have both in their harem at the same time, unless the two Pokégirls are used to one another and some semblance of respect between them is obtained.

DEMON-GODDESS, the Heaven-or-Hell Pokégirl

Type: Very Near Human

Element: Steel/Magic

Frequency: Very Rare

Diet: 1/2 Human Intake plus various amounts of sex

Role: special strike units

Libido: Low (Changes to Average or High after Battle Stress)

Strong Vs: Ice, Rock, Poison, Bug, Psychic, Plant, Dragon, Normal, Flying

Weak Vs: Fighting, Fire, Ghost

Attacks: Iron Punch, Ice Beam, CrossShield, Metal Sound, Quickturn, Teleport, Absorb, Imitate, Aura Barrier, Power Bolt(all others vary).

High Levels only: Hyper Beam

Enhancements: Wingless flight, photographic memory, Enhanced Strength (x3), Enhanced Senses (x5), Enhanced Endurance (x3), Enhanced Agility (x5)

Evolves: Unknown

Evolves From: mechanisms unknown but may evolve from any of the following: Megami, Demoness, or Succubus, Kamichu (if frequently alternating between somewhat kind and somewhat temperamental)

Demon-Goddesses are usually between 5' to 6'4" tall. They often have silver or platinum hair, although domestic ones tend to have unusual colored hair compared to the human norm (blue seems to be common).  Although most have dark colored eyes, this also varies. Other than these common traits, everything else about a Demon-Goddess is random, from their bust size to their personality to their maximum lifespan.  One known Demon-Goddess has lived for over a hundred and fifty years, and has been passed down from male tamer to male tamer within the same family ever since being captured.

The Demon-Goddess is always on a razor's edge, morally speaking.  Demon-Goddesses are usually a little bit bad and a little bit good.  Every Demon-Goddess feels a great moral burden until they've firmly established their moral ground. Depending on how they develop over their lives, they can be either powerful menaces to all life in general or equally powerful saviors. Because of this, Demon-Goddesses can't be classified as Infernal or Celestial as a group, but can be classified as such individually. Indeed, there are several Demon-Goddesses who were listed as each, causing humans to look upon each member of the species with a fair bit of suspicion. Celestials may often attempt to influence a Demon-Goddess into becoming one of them, but this attempt, more often than not, backfires on them.  Demon-Goddesses have a number of powers that are universal. All of them can use Absorb, Mimic and Aura Barrier. It's Imitate that has made the Demon-Goddess a powerful opponent, since combined with her photographic memory, she can hold onto memories of attacks much longer, and unlike the normal limitations of the technique, she can use any attack she's seen within the last four to five days.

Demon-Goddesses sometimes have a staff which is usually described as looking like some sort of key. The exact design of this "key staff" varies from Pokégirl to Pokégirl, but it's generally seen with the Demon-Goddesses who are calm and collected. Demon-Goddesses need only half the food of a human, but they require sex rarely, although they need it more if they've just had an intense battle. In fact, the more they fight, the more sex they need. The "key staff" also serve as an extension of the Demon-Goddess' own body, just like another limb. She will not allow another to use her staff unless it is someone she absolutely trusts (such as a Tamer she is Delta Bonded with). The "Key Staff" is normally used to fire any projectile attacks that she Imitates or learns, but can also be used in close quarters.

Demon-Goddesses have a feral state, but unlike normal feral states, she is rendered largely helpless, with little strength to fend for herself. Because of this, almost no Demon-Goddess can go very long without a sexual partner, even if it is a temporary one. Fortunately, it can take a long time for a Demon-Goddess to go feral, depending on their energy level. If they can go without fighting after their last taming, they can keep from going feral for up to five years. However, if they have a challenging battle, this immediately diminishes to a maximum of a month. Speaking of sexual partners, a Demon-Goddess prefers monogamous relationships to a harem setting, though unlike a Neo-Iczel who will try and keep partners out, most Demon-Goddesses will not resist to having extra partners in her bed. However, the less attention given to her, the more jealous she will become. How she reacts to jealousy varies greatly: Some will leave, some may begin growing increasingly temperamental, and others may even attack her partner and the new lovers. Although useful in sex battles despite their low libido, most Sex Leagues frown on the use of them in their leagues due to the fact that Imitate is far too advantageous, right up there with the Lunar Caress technique and the Manage-a-Trois Pokégirl.  Fortunately, due to their rarity, they are not banned.

Although certainly not the best idea to have a large harem while keeping a Demon-Goddess, it varies with the Pokégirl’s attitude and personality as to just how bad an idea it is. Researchers and tamers say that no more than four Pokégirls other than the Demon-Goddess should be kept at any time, or else the Demon-Goddess may feel slighted. The wrath of an angry Demon-Goddess is something that no one, tamer, Pokégirl, or otherwise, ever wants pointed in their direction. Strange though it may be, a Demon-Goddess will show bond-level loyalty to any partner she chooses to be permanent, even if she has not bonded. Even odder is the fact that a Demon-Goddess will not let her partner's moral choices influence her own. One Demoness is even said to have wound up with a Demon-Goddess partner who was nigh-saintly.

Neo-Iczels and Demon-Goddesses have an intense rivalry. Something about the Neo-Iczels having a great amount of power, yet seemingly unburdened by moral issues, irks Demon-Goddesses greatly. Once a Demon-Goddess notices a Neo-Iczel, if they don't immediately begin name-calling and subsequently wind up attacking each other; they will do everything they can to ignore the other and will cold-shoulder even their partner if they happen to ask the Demon-Goddess to be polite to the Neo-Iczel. The few times they will remain even remotely civil to each other is either when the Demon-Goddess has chosen her own moral compass; or when they're both fighting the same opponent, but even then, they will verbally bash the other at every given opportunity.  And no tamer should ever try and get them both in the same harem.  There are no known reports of a tamer having survived keeping both in his or her harem at one time- the last known tamer that did died over fifty years ago, about five miles outside of a small town in Indigo.  There is now a small lake there that formed in the crater that is that tamer and his harem's final resting place.

In battle, a Demon-Goddess is likely to use CrossShield in order to reduce damage that they take from any attack, and then get a hit on their opponent while learning the use of the attack that was used against her. Then, she will usually use that attack to fight right back (especially effective against Dragon-types that are weak against their own element). The Demon-Goddess, after around a dozen uses of any particular attack, will learn that attack permanently, and become just a small part of her arsenal. One unusual thing to note is that a Demon-Goddess has access to several elemental attacks, such as Ice Beam, Power Bolt, and even Teleport- a Tamer may never know just what attacks his or her Pokégirl has until she's in the heat of battle.

Only two thresholds into a Demon-Goddess have occurred, one in 186 AS, and the other in 257 AS.
