Chapter 10

<09:00, Plymouth Pokecenter>

Andrew sat and contemplated the PC in front of him. Using his background in computers he had downloaded a tracer into the system, and it hadn’t taken long before it got a hit. As soon as he had logged in, in fact. He shook his head. “Braxton you ass. I will break away from you eventually.” He sighed and tapped at the new Pokédex’s screen for a few seconds before shutting it and the PC off, terminating the insistent warning that he was over his harem limit. He rolled his eyes and walked outside, waving at Amy as he did. She smiled and winked back. He chuckled as he stepped outside, scanning for a battle arena that he could use. After asking directions, he set off.

<09:30, Plymouth Battle Arena #2>

Andrew vaulted over the low wall surrounding the dirt arena, nodding at a bored looking Officer Jenny by the officiators box. She walked over.

“How can I assist, citizen?” She asked as she surveyed Andrew. He stopped.

“I don’t know really. I just needed a place my Pokégirls could let off some steam.”

The Jenny shrugged. “If you wouldn’t mind, I could officiate their battle. I have no more pressing charges at the moment, anyways.”

Andrew nodded. “If you wish. This battle is for the position of Alpha in my Harem.”

The Jenny waved her acknowledgement as she retreated to the officiator’s box. Andrew reached for his belt and released Claire and Grace. Claire materialized glaring at Grace, while the Mini-Top merely smirked at the irate Valkyrie.

Andrew held up his hands. “Settle down you two. We have an officiator for your battle. Claire, as challenged, you have the right to set the terms to the battle. Which end of the field will you take?”

Claire glanced at the rising sun above Andrew’s head before pointing at his end of the field with her chin. “That side.” She declared before jumping lightly to the end and turning to face Grace, who had already taken position at her end of the field. She unholstered her pistol as the Jenny glanced at either end of the field. “Mini-Top -?”

“GRACE!” Grace yelled.

The Jenny turned towards Claire, but before she could speak, Claire smiled and shouted back, “Claire!”

The Jenny nodded and raised a flag. “Mini-Top Grace and Valkyrie Claire, this is a one-on-one battle to determine the position of Alpha in your Harem. The first to be unable to battle is the loser. Ready?” She called, glancing at each of their nods, “BEGIN!” She shouted, dropping the flag.

Grace immediately fired a round towards where Claire had been standing a second ago, before shifting her gaze upwards with the Valkyrie. She squinted as a beam of light danced across her face before cursing and leaping backwards as a sword imbedded itself in the dirt in front of her. She grinned. “Really? You get rid of your weapon this early… OH, HELL!” She screamed as four more swords thudded into the ground around the desperately dodging Mini-Top. “How the fuck are you summoning more swords?” She yelled as she desperately scanned the sky for a sign of Claire. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed the shadow across the face of the sun. “Gotcha!” She taunted, and fired straight at the figure she could see.

“You really shouldn’t do that.” Claire called as she danced out of the sun’s path. Grace screamed as her eyes, fully dilated in the shadow Claire had caused, were exposed to the full blast of the sun’s rays. Gasping, she shielded her eyes as her half blinded vision registered a golden reflection coming in from her left. As she turned to engage it, she was pounded by a feather shuriken from her right. On her left, a double-handed broadsword winked at her from it’s position in the ground. Growling, Grace leapt backwards.

“Cheating bitch!” She spat.

Claire’s mocking voice echoed back. “You can’t hit what you can’t see, rabbit.” Grace felt another feather shuriken impact the ground in front of her and she blinked furiously to clear her vision. Finally clearing it, she scanned the sky furiously for Claire, but all she could see was some sort of armored Pokégirl standing by the officiator’s box.

Grace snarled and turned away before screaming in pain as a claymore imbedded itself in her shoulder. She spun back towards the armored girl she had seen, but they had disappeared. She flattened herself as another feather shuriken sailed over her head before spotting Claire in the sky, katana drawn and pointed her way. “HA! There you are! Don’t think your stupid cloth robe will protect you!” She yelled and pointed her pistol, blood draining from her face as the claymore’s blade grated in her shoulder. Claire’s mouth twitched into a smile as she brought her katana down, and Grace’s eyes widened as a barrage of blades imbedded themselves in her body. Screaming in pain she struggled to free herself from the swords that pinned her to the ground. Claire landed lightly and placed the flat of her katana against Grace’s neck. Grace weakly spat at her before the Jenny raised her arm.

“Mini-Top Grace is unable to continue. Valkyrie Claire is victorious.”

Andrew recalled Grace as Claire unsummoned the blades around the field and ran lightly to him. He laughed. “You took her out in a minute and a half. Good job with the sun, as soon as you blinded her she couldn’t target you.”

Claire snorted. “She’s definitely powerful to have survived all of attacks I hit her with, but she has no brains. If she did, she would have used mega punch or something on the ground to at least raise a dust cloud while she reoriented herself.”

Andrew shrugged. “I think leaving you as Alpha is perfectly acceptable, though you also need to work on your own power. Right now Grace only has my pistol to work with, but a Mini-Top is never about one weapon. She’ll also be learning magic if she can.” He tapped Claire’s forehead lightly. “As will you.”

The Jenny smiled as she glanced at Andrew. “Thank you for the diversion, citizen.” She glanced at Claire. “You must be a powerful Tamer to have that one in your Harem.”

Andrew laughed. “She’s only level 17.”

The Jenny’s jaw dropped. “In that case, I commend you as a Tamer to have such a skilled Pokégirl.”

He grinned. “Thank you for the compliment.” He grabbed Claire’s waist and pulled her beside him. “Thank you for officiating. I’ll be heading back to the Pokécenter now in order to heal up and regroup.”

The Jenny nodded and watched as Andrew and Claire walked away before tapping a hidden mike at her throat. “Braxton. He’s already obtained a Mini-Top and his Slicer is a Valkyrie. She is extremely powerful. I’m sending you the recording of his battle now.”

A faint burst of static came from her ear before she turned and jogged out of town.

<01:00, Plymouth Battle Arena #2>

Andrew sighed contentedly as he walked back to the arena. It was the closest to a forest clearing he could get in town, and since he didn’t want to be late for his ‘appointment’ with Amy later, he had to stick around. He laughed. He was looking forward to his ‘check up’.

He released Grace and Claire, the former now glaring at the smug latter.

“Before you two begin anything, I need to make one thing quite clear.” Andrew said. Grace turned towards him. “You lost, Grace. Claire is the Alpha. That’s final until I feel she is doing a bad job.”

Grace sneered and looked away. “If that armored Pokégirl hadn’t interfered by showing up, I would have won.”

Claire’s eyes danced in silent laughter, and Andrew could feel her amusement through their budding Delta bond, a side effect, he reasoned, from her special evolution. He inclined his head in a silent acknowledgement and Claire switched into her Heaven’s Wheel armor.

Grace stared at her. “Wha-? YOU were that armored pokegirl? How the hell?”

Claire grinned. “I told you he gives everyone something special, didn’t I?”

Grace shook her head. “But your armor is that cloth thing…”

Claire cut her off. “And I can only summon one sword, right?”

Grace grit her teeth. “Fine, so you have some power. He still gave me a gift.”

Claire snickered. “How do you think I obtained this ability?”

Andrew chuckled. “If you’re a part of the family, I will do my damndest to make you stronger. If you’re stronger than anyone else, you won’t die.” His eyes grew haunted. “I don’t need anyone else close to me dying.”

Claire dismissed her armor and grabbed him in a hug which he, surprised, tentatively returned after a few seconds. She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. “I feel that. How?”

Andrew rubbed his eyes. “You and I have begun to form a Delta bond. I suspect it started during your evolution or shortly thereafter.”

Claire smiled and held him tighter. “Good.” She blinked and released Andrew, who had turned slightly blue. “Oopsies.”

Andrew gasped and waved weakly at where Grace grinned at Claire’s mistake. “Wipe that smile off your face. You’re supposed to be my seriously psychopathic rabbit.”

Grace giggled before flouncing into his chest. “No I’m not! I’m your wuvvy widdle wabbit!”

Andrew gasped in pain before laughing softly. “Alright. Since everyone seems to be in such a playful mood, let’s not train today and just get some bonding time in.”

“Yayyyyy!” Grace exclaimed before pulling Andrew towards the Pokécenter, Claire following at a slightly more sedate pace.

<04:15, Plymouth Pokécenter>

Andrew lay back on the bed. Grace had jumped him as soon as the door had closed and fucked him, well, like a rabbit. Claire had been a bit more considerate; he could tell she would need him in a few days, but right now she seemed alright. He smiled as he heard a moan from the floor by the door. Sitting up slowly, he watched as Grace finished getting Claire off. Yea, tomorrow, maybe.

Claire stood going over her forms while Grace checked the 50/22’s patina. Andrew walked in from the bathroom toweling off his hair.

“Alright, now that I’m cleaned up, I have a few things for each of you.” He said and sat down next to Grace.

She holstered her pistol as Claire walked over and sat down on his other side. “What’s going on?” Grace asked.

“I have some stories for you, Grace, and some advice for Claire.” He explained. “First, Claire. I am an expert in a defensive martial art named Kempo. While I know you aren’t a defensive girl, and Kempo deals with being unarmed, I know enough about swords, namely bokken and katana, to be dangerous. Therefore I can tell you a few things.”

Claire shrugged. “I already know everything there is to know about my weapons.”

Andrew raised his eyebrows. “Is that so? Alright, then. Summon to katana and give me one.”

Claire hopped off the bed and tossed a newly summoned blade to Andrew. He deftly caught it and immediately slapped Claire’s ass with the flat of the blade.

“I could have just as easily run you through.” He admonished her.

Her eyes grew wide. “What the hell was that for! You just-“ She froze as she saw the tip of Andrew’s katana hovering an inch from her eye.

“Let me tell you something, since you apparently didn’t realize it.” Andrew muttered. “Anyone can be an enemy. I’m not saying constantly be on your guard, but constantly be ready.”

Claire glared at him. “You’re my TAMER! You’re not my enemy!”

Andrew smiled. “I beg to differ. I have spared your life twice. Ever hear the expression, ‘third time lucky’?”

Claire narrowed her eyes. “Andrew, knock it off.”

He grinned. “Here I come. I suggest you defend yourself.” He said, and stepped towards her. She grimaced before slapping his blade away and hitting him in the stomach with her guard. His eyes flashed and he dropped his katana, grabbing her wrist and twisting it so her blade pointed at her own throat. Claire’s jaw dropped and both katanas vanished.

“What the hell was the point of that?” She hissed at him. Andrew smiled.

“To show you just how much you have to learn.” He explained. “Three times I attacked you, and three times I would have killed you. Even though we aren’t enemies, you still should be able to react and block each of those strikes.”

Grace laughed from her spot on the bed. “Don’t feel too bad, Clairey dear. He pulled the same stunt on me when he first tamed me.”

Andrew smirked. “How did eating your own punch feel?”

She smiled angelically. “It felt like a concentrated beating of love.”

Andrew laughed and flopped back onto the bed, Claire still fuming. He rolled his eyes. “C’mon. I’ll show you some stuff later.”

Claire blinked slowly before walking over and settling down back in her original spot. Grace piped up. “So, what’s my story?”

Andrew sighed and stared at the ceiling. “First of all, I was called Andy. Easier to scream in the middle of a firefight than Andrew. Or at least, we thought that would be the case. Instead it almost got me killed over mistaken identity.” He rolled his eyes. “Then again I’m probably also embellishing a little in everything, but that was how it all felt.”

Grace looked at him. “You were a soldier?”

He nodded. “Yeah. No, not the Revenge War or anything like that. A fully human war. Before I start, if you don’t recognize the names of places or have a question, please speak up. I may need a break from the memories.”

Claire hugged him. “Clarifying question; were you born on this world?”

“Nope.”

Grace looked skeptically at him. “Bullshit. Aliens don’t exist.”

Andrew laughed. “And a month ago I would have sworn you didn’t exist. Now that we have mutual non-existence established, can I start my story?”

Grace eyed him. “Are you human?”

He smiled sadly. “As human as anyone can be.”

Grace shrugged. “Alright. Let’s hear it.”
