Pure Vanilla Chapter 12

“Stay behind me, Master.” Trish carefully walked in front of Daniel, Kali’s eyes closed as she scanned the area around them and Zoe concentrated on cloaking them from enemies.

“Large concentration of people ahead.” Kali opened her eyes. “Large mass surrounded by mobiles. Likely a hostage room.”

“I have point.” Ann started before Lily leapt past her, blitzing towards the large double doors ahead.

“Ah, shit.” Jacob managed before Ann also broke, racing just behind the charging Panthriducia. “Zoe, lockdown, now!”

Daniel felt a fog drop over his mind for a split second before Zoe’s presence passed, and he saw Trish stumble as she felt it too. In front of them Lily smashed through the doors, sending splintered wood wheeling through the air. The four ran in to see Lily struggling with an inhuman pokegirl, while Ann was staring down two humans and another pokegirl. In the center of what appeared to be the food court huddled a group of hostages, one clutching his head as he screamed wordlessly.

“Plant.” Was all Zoe had to say for Jacob to release Kali, the Houshee leaping on the struggling fake hostage without need for a command. Daniel hurriedly released Lea as two more pokegirls leapt at them, Trish easily countering the first while Lea had to backpedal to avoid the fire the Growlie blew in her direction.

“I said lockdown, Zoe!” Jacob yelled, brandishing a sword that Daniel hadn’t seen him carrying before. “THIS DOESN’T SEEM VERY LOCKED DOWN!”

“There’re a lot of minds.” Zoe groaned, her antennae spasming as she fought to hold her control over the rest of the hostiles in the room. “So I missed a few, ok?”

Daniel stepped back as a splatter of blood signaled Trish’s victory, Lea still struggling with her opponent until Trish stepped in and blindsided the Growlie with a slash through her stomach. This allowed Lea an easy opening as the Growlie desperately clutched at the gushing wound.

“Kali, find their pokeballs. I’d rather not have corpses.” Jacob called, directing the Houshee to let off her forced interrogation of her target and begin rifling through the bags that littered the room.

“Lea, go help her.” Daniel turned to watch Lily leap towards where a beleaguered Ann fought, drops of liquid glinting as they shook off her claws. “Trish, incapacitate the ones Zoe is holding.”

The Samurai unhappily looked at him before leaving his side, calming slightly when she watched red flash and Noeth materialize.

Lily and Ann made short work of their opponents, using pokeballs Kali identified to recall the pokegirls while knocking out and tying up the Tamers. Daniel noted that while Lily didn’t seem overly motivated to kill the non-resisting humans, she probably caused a few injuries beyond what was needed. He chalked it down to her background and left it at that.

“I think this is the loot bag.” Lea called, rifling through a larger canvas sack. “There are a lot of potions in here. And evolution stones, pokedexes, and pokeballs. These probably belong to the hostages.”

“Leave it alone.” Daniel called, gazing around to make sure there weren’t any other enemies waiting to jump out at them. “We’ll let the police sort that out.”

“I kind of want to see what’s in here.” Lea called back, rummaging for a few more seconds before relenting. “But alri- AH!”

Daniel turned to see a white glow begin to engulf Lea, her hand still stuck in the bag. “Wa- NO! LEA! FIGHT IT!”

Lea’s body shuddered as she evolved, Daniel racing towards her and latching into her arm. “FIGHT IT. Lea, PLEASE!”

“It’s too late.” Daniel stepped back and turned to Ann, the Dire Wolf watching the evolving Armsmistress. “Welcome, Sister.”

Daniel swore and turned away as the light died to show Lea, her form unchanged, but her face completely devoid of emotion.

“I’m done.” All eyes turned to Daniel in surprise as he raised Lea’s pokeball and recalled the Warrior Nun. “I’m done. I just lost a pokegirl. I’m done.”

“Why, she’s not lost, she has been-“ Ann started before Daniel cut her off.

“I grew up constantly warned about your bullshit. You fucking Celestials. I know the Celestial breeds inside and out, how they evolve, who they evolve from, what they are apt to do in a given situation. Lea, unless she’s some freak of nature, has just been shown that she should not fight for sport. And guess what? That’s what I need her to do. So I just lost my fucking Armsmistress, and if this happened because you neglected to warn me, you should keep your fucking mouth shut.”

“Master, the hostages are in need of medical treatment.” Trish cut in, drawing Daniel’s attention away from the Dire Wolf. “I, I don’t have any way to heal them.”

“I don’t think any of us do.” Jacob replied, patting Zoe on the back as the Alakawham caught her breath. “Which means we need to do the best we can until help arrives.”

“I wonder if this is what she meant.”

Attention swiveled back to Daniel again as he sat down. “What?” Jacob asked quietly.

“My aunt. A Demon-Goddess.” Daniel explained, gazing at the pokeball in his hand. “She said I’d lose something very dear to me one day. A semi prophecy. I wonder if she couldn’t see the outcome clearly because of interference. From a powerful Celestial.” He directed the last line at Ann. “Well?”

Ann nodded slowly. “There was a second future. In it, you hid everything from sight using magic. The enemies were defeated easily, and it wasn’t your Armsmistress that touched the stone, but Kali, as she took inventory. Your Armsmistress helped me and Lily collect the prisoners.”

“Fuck you.” Ann blinked at the venom in his voice. “Was this the god damn failure you warned me about when we first met?”

         Ann shifted nervously. “I don’t-“

“It doesn’t matter.” Daniel stood, waving Trish and Noeth to his side. “This wasn’t all of them. It can’t have been. I’m angry right now, so I’m going to go find the bastard who’s leading this, and then I’m going to go try to find a fucking replacement for my first pokegirl.”

Ann made to follow him but stopped as Jacob barked a command. Lily broke off what she was doing and hurried after her Tamer. “You should have Aria out for this.” Lily whispered as she fought to keep up with Daniel’s stride. “She can help.”

“She’s currently unconscious.” Daniel replied calmly. “You three are all we have.”

         “What about Le-“

“I don’t know if I can trust her to do what I want her to.” Daniel cut in. “And I don’t want to find out as we fight whoever orchestrated this. You will have to do.”

They walked in silence for a few minutes before Noeth piped up. “Do you know where we’re going?”

Daniel glanced at her. “You’re the only psychic here, Noeth. But, I’d assume we’re going right there.” He said, pointing at where two men stood conversing, their pokegirls scanning the area. “If I remember correctly, that’s the money room.”

“HALT!” Daniel slowed as they approached and one of the Tamers perked up. “Identify yourself.”

“Does it really matter? I need to see the boss.” Daniel replied, allowing apathy to push out the suppressed anger in his voice. “The hostages are secure. I want to find out what to do next.”

“You were supposed to stay with them.” The pokegirls perked up at the Tamer’s voice. “What are you doing back here?”

“I told you. I need to see the boss. Noeth, now.

The Charamanda squeaked as the Loner teleported and used Hypnotize, dropping the poor girl like a stone. Lily lunged at the second before she could react, digging her claws into her neck. “Make a move. I dare you.” She hissed, causing the terrified girl to begin to shake.

“You bastard!” The first Tamer yelled, lunging at Daniel only to be knocked flat as Trish stepped in, pointing her Katana at the second, the man immediately throwing his hands up.

“Trish, bind them. Find the pokeballs.” Daniel waited for the two to be restrained before motioning. “Let’s go.”

“No need.” Daniel quickly stepped back, his harem following suit as a man stepped out of the doorway. “I was wondering when the Hero would show up.”

“I’m just working out some anger.” Daniel shot back, taking stock of the man in front of him. He held himself easily, seemingly unfazed by the three pokegirls that each had weapons trained on him. “You the boss?”

“If I was, would I tell you?” The man smiled. “I recognize the black one. She killed Gerald, didn’t she? Bloodthirsty thing she is.”

“As far as I was aware, he deserved it.” Daniel nodded. “Take him down.”

“Yes, well, we attract the murderers when we name ourselves Massacre, now don’t we?” The man slid back and away from the advancing pokegirls. “Baena. Bliya. Drop them.”

Daniel shouted a warning as two forms leapt past the man, Trish intercepting the first while Noeth twisted away from the second, allowing Lily to clinch them.

Lily easily broke her opponent’s hold, pushing her away. Daniel whipped out his pokedex and ran a scan, nodding at the positive id. “Electrocat and She-Captain. Watch yourself.”

Tris snorted, quickly using the same technique she had used in the badge fight against Ms Moon and grounding herself using her wakazashi. “This won’t even be a challenge.”

The Electrocat, Baena, bristled and leapt in, clawing at Trish and yowling in surprise as her claws met Trish’s armor. Trish countered with a solid slash that carved a streak down the catgirl’s side as she tried to twist away. Meanwhile Lily stepped back in towards the She-Captain, Bliya snarling and summoning two cutlasses that she used to drive Lily back for a moment before Noeth stepped in, forcing her to dance away from Noeth’s blades.

Meanwhile, the two Tamers circled each other, Daniel holding his augmentations back to hopefully allow him a surprise attack.

“You have some rare pokegirls.” The man called, his gaze shifting across Daniel’s body as he attempted to read his movements. “They’ll make fine additions.”

“You wouldn’t be able to break half of them.” Daniel replied. “And the others would no doubt delight in breaking you.”

The man chuckled. “You’ve got spunk. What’s your name, kid?”

“Dan. You still haven’t given me yours.”

“You won’t need it.” The man replied as he found his opening and lunged in. “Dead men don’t need my name.”

Daniel desperately blocked the man’s arm, twisting away from the knife that had materialized in his hand. The man easily flipped it to his other hand, making another slash that grazed Daniel’s cheek, causing him to jump away and press his sleeve to the cut. “Isn’t a knife cheating?”

The man smiled slightly, flipping the blade back and forth. “I’m trying to kill you, dumbass.”

Daniel smiled back. “Fine.” He said as he stepped back in, grabbing the man’s wrist and extending his claws.

The man’s face went white as he screamed, his numb hand dropping the knife where it clattered on the floor. Daniel quickly smashed his fist into the man’s stomach, doubling him over before bringing a knee up to meet his face while grabbing the top of his head and holding him down.

There was a crunch as the knee encountered the man’s nose and he reeled backwards, blood beginning to drip.

“You… son of a…” He gasped, clutching at his face.

Daniel didn’t respond, following the man back and driving another knee into his gut before planting his leg and smashing his head with a rising kick to the temple. The man dropped instantly, completely out cold.

Daniel breathed lightly as he looked down at the crumpled form. “Well. Now I feel a little better.” He looked over to where Lily was still fighting the She-Captain, Trish holding the Electrocat by her hair as she repeatedly slammed her face into the ground.

“POLICE! HANDS IN THE AIR!” Daniel resisted the urge to turn and quickly dropped to his knees, holding his hands high.

“Trish, Noeth, Lily, stand down!” He screamed, catching sight of the uniforms out of the corner of his eye. “Now!”

The pokegirls quickly stopped, Lily having to block one last attack as the She-Captain turned to flee.

“I SAID FREEZE!” Daniel heard yelled again, followed by two shots. The She-Captain dropped and slid along the floor, the electrically charged rounds playing across her body.

“Alright, up.” Daniel heard, accompanied by a hand grabbing his shirt and hauling him to his feet. He turned to see three officers, one talking into a walkie-talkie.

“The pokeballs for my three are on my belt. I believe that this man and his two pokegirls were the leaders of this attack.” Daniel said calmly. “My name is Daniel Adams. My father is Emmanuel Adams. My pokegirl killed a human in self defense. You will probably find his body in the main stadium.”

The officer looked at him in surprise. “You’d admit murder?”

“In self defense. It was the Panthriducia, there.” Daniel nodded at Lily.

The officer blinked and nodded. “I see. What did you say your name was again?” He asked, pulling out a notepad.

         “Daniel Adams.”

“Oh.” The officer hesitated but put the pad away. “You’re free to go. Give your father my regards, if you would.”

Daniel stared and slowly lowered his arms. “Just like that?”

“You don’t know me, but I know you and Emmanuel.” The officer smiled. “Your dad got me out of a rough spot a few years back. Are you hurt?” Daniel shook his head. “I’m glad. Are you claiming anything as salvage?”

Daniel glanced at the man on the ground and snorted. “I’d love to, but I won’t make first claim. He most likely has quite a bit of stolen property that should be returned to its rightful owners.”

The officer chuckled. “Still the same boy I remember. Alright, Daniel. Stay safe. I know who to call if I need a statement.”

Daniel nodded wordlessly and returned his harem to their pokeballs before making his way to an exit. He walked carefully, not drawing any attention to himself before he was well away from the police line, at which point he withdrew his pokedex and made a call.

His father picked up on the third ring, worry on his face. “Daniel? Are you in Cardiff right now?”

Daniel sighed. “Yea, I am. And yes, I am. I’m alright. Nobody is hurt. Someone died, but it wasn’t me.”

His dad breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh, thank goodness. It’s already on the news. They say it was a Team attack.”

“It was, I think.” Daniel rubbed his eyes. “Where’s Angelica? I need to speak to her.”

Emmanuel shrugged. “Don’t know. She disappeared a few weeks ago, and then I got a message from her saying not to worry. She’ll be back eventually.”

Daniel frowned. “That doesn’t… There’s something wrong with that.” He paused as events started clicking into place in his mind. “Dad, did you send me an extra pokegirl with the Kamichu?”

His dad blinked. “Yea, I did. Why?”

         “What breed was she?”

Emmanuel shifted nervously, a slight frown on his face. “I assume that’s a rhetorical question. I’m sorry about trying to push a Lupina on you, but your mother thought that-“

         “She wasn’t a Lupina.”

         His dad stopped. “What?”

“The pokegirl that I was handed. It wasn’t a Lupina.” Daniel sighed. “The Rapha didn’t bring them out, either. It was a Celestial of some kind.”

He heard his father hiss. “White wings, tall, proud, angular face?”

         Daniel blinked. “Yea. Why?”

“Fuck.” Daniel’s eyes widened at his father’s use of profanity. “Angelica’s in trouble. Daniel, I hope to god whatever got dropped in your lap is worth keeping. If she’s not, dump her immediately. I need to go scramble a rescue mission.”

“She was a Tigress!” Daniel yelled as his father disappeared, and was pretty sure he heard a muffled and confused ‘Ok.’ from his father as he left. “Huh.”

“Wait, a Tigress?” Daniel had been about to end the call when he saw his mother pop into frame. “Not a Celestial pokegirl?”

“No, a Tigress. A Tigress that had been devolved from a Panthress.” Daniel nodded at the look on her face. “Yea. She’s not anymore, though. She evolved to Panthriducia.”

Damika grimaced. “With luck, that’s all she was trying for. Alright, Daniel. Stay safe. What did you need to talk to Angelica for?”

Daniel sighed. “One of my pokegirls would probably like to speak with her. I’m not sure what she’ll do yet, but it’s likely that my harem just shrunk by one.”

“Ah.” Damika gave him a sympathetic smile. “Well, I’m sure you’ll find an excellent replacement.”

“I hope so. See ya.” Daniel replied, terminating the connection. He stood for a few minutes before setting his back to the stadium and making a beeline to the south pokemon center.

Daniel scanned the listings with a sigh. No Armsmistresses, or Amazons or Valkyries of suitable experience. And even if there had been, he wasn’t sure he’d want another anyways.

He heard the pokecenter doors open and didn’t pay it much mind until he heard a cough from behind him. Turning, he could see a Tamer standing patiently.

“Hey, kid. You done with the terminal?” The man asked, a bored look on his face. “I’ve got pokegirls I’d like to list.”

“Yea, sorry, give me just a second.” Daniel called back, hitting the button to transfer control to his pokedex. “Alright, I’m transferred off. Go for it.”

The man nodded and thanked him, leaving Daniel to walk to an empty seat and continue browsing.

“No… No… No…” Daniel muttered to himself over the next half hour, finally making it into the third party listings. “No, Definitely not…” He paused. “That’s a Valkyrie. Wait, probably a Valkyrie? What does that mean? Whatever. Listed for 150k, that’s a steal.” He grinned. “Sure. Let’s see what’s behind door number two.” And hit accept.

Immediately the computer on the front desk chimed, causing the Rapha to look up. “I have a transfer pending for a Mr. Daniel Adams? Mr. Adams?”

         Daniel raised his hand. “Here.”

The Rapha nodded and waved. “The transfer was sent via pokeball transit, so it is waiting for you at our northern location.”

Daniel sighed. “Right, I forgot you don’t have a long range teleporter here. Thanks for the heads up.”

The Rapha smiled and waved as he left.

Daniel hadn’t gone two steps out the door when he felt someone approaching him. Turning, he raised an eyebrow at Moira, the Armsmistress hurrying his way. “Moira? What are you doing here?”

“He’s with me, Master.” Moira responded, Daniel immediately realizing that she wasn’t talking to him. “Pokecenter, as you suspected.”

“Moira, what’s-“ Daniel started before the Armsmistress grabbed him, bodily pulling him off the street and into an alley, where she clamped a gauntleted hand over his mouth.

“Which one wanted to talk to Angelica.” Moira glared. “Well?”

Daniel grunted, pointedly staring down at her hand. “My Armsmistress.” He finally replied once Moira let him. “She touched an Angel Stone while the attack was happening. So, I assume that she’ll want to find something else to do instead of fight for sport.”

“Damnit. And after all the work we just went through to forge her armor.” Moira spat. “Fuck that woman. Fuck everything she stands for.” Moira turned away from him slightly. “Did you get all that, Master?”

Daniel could just barely hear the response that came through Moira’s radio, though he couldn’t make out what his father was saying. “Moira?”

“Master saw activity on your account and got worried.” The Armsmistress released her grip and continued listening. “What are you doing, Daniel?”

“I’ve got five pokegirls ready for training and battle, and one who’s probably just become dead weight on my journey.” Daniel replied, brushing himself off. “So I’m trying to replace her.”

“No pause? Have you even talked to your pokegirls?” Moira sighed. “And besides. How do you intend to keep seven pokegirls? You still have a basic license, don’t you?”

“…Ah.” Daniel grimaced. “I already bought the girl.”

“Oh? What breed?” Moira turned back to him curiously.

Daniel shifted nervously from foot to foot. “I don’t know?”

Moira stared at him incredulously for a few moments before shaking her head and turning away. “I have to go. Can you cancel the sale?”

Daniel winced. “No, it was a private sale.”

“Daniel…” Moira trailed off as she looked into space. “This is not how you should treat shock. You need to slow down, not do something stupid.”

         Daniel grimaced. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize to me.” Moira’s voice softened. “If you don’t know what you just bought, you paid too much. That’s a hard lesson that you’ll be learning today.” She tapped a release, allowing her wings to break out of her armor as she took off hard, quickly vanishing from sight in the afternoon sky.

Daniel slowly trudged to the northern pokecenter, stepping inside and walking to the teleporter. After inputting his details he watched the pokeball materialize before pointing his scanner at it.

“A fucking Pidgy.” He muttered, not even bothering to remove the ball before initiating a ranch sale. “Feral to boot. Fuck.”

He sat dejectedly for a few minutes after the sale finished, trying not to think about the money he had just lost. Eventually he was shaken out of his daze by the vibrations of an incoming call.

“Hello? This is Daniel.” He glanced at the unknown number. “Who is this?”

“DANIEEEEL!” Daniel whipped his head back in surprise as the face of Gwyneira exploded into view. “You alright? Yes? No?”

“Holy crap. Yes, I’m ok.” Daniel shook his head in bemusement. “Dad already told you what happened?”

“I said talk later, but I expected happy call, not like this.” Gwyneira huffed, causing the camera to fog from her breath. “Der’mo. ALEKEI! CAMERA!”

“Stop breathing on it, Gwyneira.” Daniel watched as a man wiped the lens clean and gave him a jaunty wave. “Hey, Dan. I’ve heard a lot about you.”

Dan gave a half wave back, waiting patiently. “Why the sudden call, Aunty? Just to see if I’m ok?”

“No, no, yes.” Gwyneira came back into frame, trying to gently push the man away but still sending him stumbling to the side. “Prosti, Alekei. No. And yes. Yes, you are ok, good. But no, I hear you lose girl?” She questioned.

“Kind of.” Daniel shrugged. “I probably lost my Armsmistress. She evolved into a Warrior Nun. They don’t usually fight for fun, which is exactly what I need.”

Gwyneira chuckled and nodded. “Holy one, yes. Those are strict. Veeerry strict. Well, I call because of that.”

Daniel perked up. “You know of an Armsmistress that I can buy?”

“Armsmistress? Nyet. One of the researchers, here, on base? He is always looking. Looking for Tamers to take his pokegirls.”

Daniel frowned. “What kind of pokegirls?”

Gwyneira grinned. “Interesting ones. Ah, but if it was up to me, I would find you a nice Frostwhelp, give you a real pokegirl, no? Hahahaha!”

Daniel chuckled back. “I’ve intentionally avoided scales and fur, Aunty. But thanks.”

“Yes, yes.” Gwyneira grumbled. “Anyway. Researcher. Want to talk?”

“Sure.” Daniel settled into his chair. “Let’s see what he has.”

         “Good, good. PIERRE! IDI SYUDA!”

“GWYN!” Daniel watched the tent flap fly open and a man run inside. “Shh! You’re going to cause another avalanche!”

“Good. They’re fun.” Gwyneira replied smugly.

         “Oy vey.” The man muttered.

“O moy Bog.” Gwyneira corrected seriously.

“Gwyn, you know I barely speak your language.” The man sighed. “So, why are you screaming for me?”

“That would be because of me.” The man turned to the camera and nodded at Daniel. “I heard you’re trying to give away pokegirls?”

“Ah, you must be Daniel. Gwyneira talks about you quite a bit.” The man chuckled. “Most of it bad, but in a good way. So she told you about that, eh? Well, it’s true. One of my colleagues has discovered a new type of pokegirl and he’s trying to breed and spread them around as much as he can. He’s hoping to get good data on what they are and what they can do.”

“And what does he know about them so far?” Daniel asked curiously. “More importantly, what would she look like?”

Pierre shrugged. “I don’t have any of them on me, but from what I hear, he’s tentatively classifying them as an evolution of the Witch. They share a lot of similarities with the Elementalist breed, but they seem more physical instead of magical. Of course, research is still ongoing.”

“Interesting.” Daniel rubbed his chin. “So, a kind of… physical magic pokegirl? Like what, like a Neo-Iczel?”

“Yea, kind of. Like the, ah, Guyver. They seem to have metamorphic capabilities.” He shook his head. “But they don’t bond. So the Guyver is a bad comparison. I supposed anything would be, though. I mean, it’s a brand new discovery.”

“Yea.” Daniel shrugged. “I’m interested. Who’s the colleague?”

“I’ll just give you his number.” Pierre replied, typing at the keypad. “He’s currently based in Capital, but if you get in touch he should have a way to send you one of them. In fact, he’s probably awake now. You should give him a call.”

“I will.” Daniel read back the number for confirmation. “Thanks, Pierre. And you too, Gwyneira.”

The Frostdrake pushed back into frame and waved. “Good luck, Daniel. Stay safe now.”

Daniel waved back and terminated the connection, keying in the number he had been given. Someone picked up at the second ring, though his or her camera was disabled.

“Hello?” The voice called. “This is Anita, assistant to Assistant Kittery speaking. Who is calling?”

“Uh, hi.” Daniel scratched his cheek. “My name’s Daniel, and I was given this number by Pierre, who-“

“Oh, you must be calling about the Aetheris initiative!” The screen suddenly snapped on to show a beaming G-Poindexter. “Oh, Master Alexander will be so happy to hear from you. You are calling about the Aetheris, correct? Not the ongoing research on the Horada?”

Daniel shook his head slowly. “The what? Pierre said his colleague was looking to give out pokegirls for study.”

“Yes, those are the Aetheris then. Give me just a moment. He’s probably still in bed with Michelle.” The screen blanked for a moment before resuming in a holding animation.

Daniel gave the device an exasperated look before setting it down and waiting. It took a few minutes before the screen snapped back to live feed to show a slightly disheveled man. “Hello? Who is calling?”

“Hi, are you Alexander?” Daniel asked. “My name’s Daniel. I just got off the phone with your colleague Pierre. He said you have a breed of pokegirl that you’re trying to study?”

“Who? Oh. Pierre. Is he still in the arctic?” The man yawned and scratched his chest. “Phoah. Sorry, it’s still rather early over here.”

“Yes, sorry, I’m in Blue.” Daniel raised an eyebrow. “So. Pokegirl?”

“Yes, yes. The Aetheris. What did Pierre tell you about them?” Alexander turned and began shouting directions at someone off screen.

“Uh, nothing, really. Just that they might be a Witch evolution?”

Alexander nodded. “Well, I haven’t passed along my research in a while, so he wouldn’t know. It’s a completely new evolution line, not some Witch evolution. The Aetheris is a metamorphic pokegirl in her later stages, but the base breed is a simple spellcaster. What makes them interesting is their method of evolution. Are you familiar with the Elementalist breed?”

Daniel shrugged. “Something about evolution stones and items cause different variants, right?”

Alexander nodded. “That’s right. The Aetheris is a spellcaster that only evolves once she chooses a ‘flavor’ of magic, if you will. I have so far confirmed fire, water, flying, and rock, though I’m sure there are other types. Once she chooses her path, her form follows suit. Once that transformation finishes, and she reaches a certain power threshold, she evolves to the second stage. I’m certain there is a third stage, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to achieve it yet.”

Daniel hummed. “And the second stage is a metamorph?”

“Yes! Ah, finally.” Alexander waved at someone. “Calida, come here!” He pulled a lightly protesting pokegirl into frame. “This is Calida. She is the fire evolution.”

Daniel nodded. The girl in the feed seemed tense, like she was constantly on alert. Most of her body seemed normal, except for her head; instead of hair he could see flames crackling in the shape of a bob cut.

“Calida, show him what you can do.” Alexander waited patiently before gently shoving the pokegirl. “Go on!”

Calida huffed and Daniel watched as the flames composing her hair suddenly spread until her entire body was made of fire. Calida looked at the camera for a moment before holding up her hand, the fingers splitting and twisting until she snapped back into human form.

“Pretty cool, right?” Alexander carefully forced his way back into frame, shooing Calida away. “Go back to breakfast. Thanks.” He gave Daniel a jaunty grin. “That’s just the fire one. I’ve also discovered water, flying, and rock, as I said before. So? Interested in helping me do some research?”

Daniel nodded slowly. “I’d be lying if I declined. What do you need from me?”

“ANITA!” Alexander roared, waiting for the G-Point to run up from behind him. “There you are. Get this man’s information and send him an Aetheris, would you? I need to get back to Michelle before she shreds the mattress again.” And with that, he ducked out of frame.

“Alright, sir.” Anita waved. “If you can just give me some standard information, Name, date of birth, residence, and the like, we can get this started.”

Daniel nodded, jotting the info into the attachment Anita linked. “Can I see the pokegirl before you send her, or is this a blind thing?”

Anite shrugged. “It’s better if it was blind, at least on the girl’s side. We’re trying to keep their distribution a surprise, to keep the others from getting jealous. Why? If you were looking for a certain appearance, they change and morph at a whim. If you wanted to interview to find the right personality, I can’t give you a personal interview, but I can send you the psyche profiles on the three currently up for adoption.”

“Psyche profiles would be perfect, actually.” Daniel waited while the files downloaded. “Thanks.”

“You are very welcome.” Anita scanned his information. “Ah, you’re in Coventry. That makes this easy; we have a direct line to the Coventry pokecenter.”

“That’s where I’m sitting now.” Daniel finished reading the third paragraph and closed the profiles. “Can I have the one designated as Gamma?”

“Of course.” Anita turned and scanned the area. “I see her. Hmm, looks like she’s experimenting with water today. Try not to freak out when you meet her, alright?”

Daniel was about to ask her what she meant when the feed went dead. He stared at his pokedex for a few moments before wandering over to the teleporter to wait.

A few minutes later he saw the pending notification pop up and scanned his pokedex, prompting the machine to spit out a premier ball, and begin blaring a warning.

“Sir, it appears as if you’ve gone over your allowed harem limit.” Daniel jumped as a Rapha nearly materialized at his shoulder. “Will you require assistance in selling a pokegirl?”

“Holy- No. No, I won’t.” Daniel took a deep breath and let it out. “However, you can help me apply for storage rights.”

The Rapha cocked her head. “It appears you only hold a basic license, sir. So it is unlikely that you would qualify for storage rights. In addition, even if you did, the check takes a few days to process. You would still be over the limit during that time.”

“Well I’m not selling any of my pokegirls.” Daniel frowned. “How about you help me file the Master Tamer’s application?”

         The Rapha half-scoffed. “Sir, please.”

“I’m serious. While you’re at it, how about you get me the paperwork for a free pokegirl and the storage application?” Daniel gave the now shocked pokegirl a huge smile. “Well?”

There was muffled laughter from behind the counter and Daniel glanced over to see the duty Rapha trying to stifle her giggles. Seeing Daniel looking she gave up, laughing openly at the spluttering pokegirl in front of Daniel. “Get the kid his paperwork, Monika. Chop chop now. You volunteered yourself for this.”

Daniel gave her a jaunty salute as Monika stormed off into a back room, earning a grin back. “Afternoon.”

The Rapha nodded back. “Afternoon, Sir. Who’s the lucky girl?”

“My Warrior Nun.” Daniel shrugged. “I’m aiming for the championship and she just evolved. I’m betting she doesn’t want to fight with me anymore, so the paperwork will keep things legal while she figures out what she wants to do.”

The Rapha whistled softly. “You’re a good man to do that for her. Who’s the seventh?”

Daniel shrugged. “Don’t know yet. Something exciting, I hope.”

The return of Monika ended the conversation, and Daniel took the next few hours filling out the various forms. Finally he handed them all back in, receiving a slip after paying the fee for Lea’s registration. “Sir, that license isn’t yours.” Monika said, her face haggard after the hours long wait. “That belongs to the Warrior Nun Lea.”

“I know.” Daniel replied, bracing himself before triggering her release.

Lea materialized and glanced around, making no outward sign of any emotion when she did.

“Lea.” She turned to see Daniel and for a second, he thought he saw her smile. “I just did the paperwork. You’re a free pokegirl. If you want to stay with me, you can. If you want to go somewhere else, you can. If you want to run off and get yourself killed in a holy crusade, I can’t stop you.”

Lea blinked, looking at the slip Daniel held before back to him. “S-Sir?”

“Not anymore.” Daniel gently folded her fingers around the temporary license. “Just Daniel now. This is yours to do with as you want as well.” He said, placing her pokeball in her other hand. “Monika here was very insistent that you gain control of your belongings as soon as possible.”

Lea half turned to the Rapha, who looked unable to believe Daniel had actually just done what he had done. “I… See.”

Daniel turned to Monika and crossed his arms. “Well?”

“Have a nice day, sir.” Monika muttered, slinking away but not before shooting one last look of disbelief over her shoulder.

“Sir, what are you doing?” Daniel could barely hear Lea’s voice, the volume not even a whisper. “Are you… Getting rid of me?”

Daniel snorted. “Hardly.” He sighed. “I’m assuming you don’t want to fight with me for the championship anymore. Since I don’t have storage rights, and I wouldn’t punish your accident by sticking you in long term anyways, the only option I had was to register you as free.”

“I… I don’t know how to react.” Lea felt her face. “I feel different. So, so different. But yet the same. Are you really letting me be who I’ve become? With no strings, no rules?”

Daniel sighed. “Yes. Yes, I am. Go.”

“There are things I feel I must do.” Lea whispered in his mind. “I don’t know when I’ll return.”

“I’ll ask Angelica to seek you out.” Daniel smiled bitterly. “I curse whatever fate took you away from me, but what’s done is done. All I can do now is allow you to go.”

Lea nodded slowly and hesitantly made for the door. Daniel watched her go, only turning away after she had long since vanished from sight. “I never got your name.” He addressed the duty Rapha. “I am in no mood to camp tonight. Do you have real rooms available?”

The Rapha shook her head. “It’s Suzy. And no, we don’t. I can get you a taming room though, if you’d like.”

Daniel snorted. “That’s alright, Suzy. I need to meet my new pokegirl somewhere where I’m not expected to already have my dick out.”

Suzy giggled at that. “Very well, sir. Good luck.”

Daniel quickly pushed out the door, stopping on the street. Getting his bearings he set off towards the park that he had met Lily in. It was a short walk, and just a few minutes later he sat on the same bench. Without much pause he triggered the premier ball’s release.

The pokegirl that materialized felt surprisingly short to Daniel until he reminded himself of how much taller his harem was than most humans. She stood a bit under 6’, and at first Daniel couldn’t tell why Anita had asked him not to freak out, until she turned to fully face him. She was wearing nothing but a shear set of leggings over a bathing suit bottom, and situated just below her breasts were what appeared to be a set of slits. As he stared Daniel could see them fluttering slightly with the pokegirl’s breath. “Gills? Are those gills?”

The girl cocked her head and nodded at him. “Are you to be my Master?” She asked, her voice curious as she set down a small bag and walked forwards.

“That’s… right.” Daniel managed, still staring as she got closer. “Anita said you were experimenting with water, but I wasn’t expecting… this.”

The girl shrugged and sat on his lap, immediately causing Daniel’s shorts to dampen from the moisture blanketing her body. “I very quickly change my mind as to what I want, Master. Later today I may change again. I don’t know yet.”

“Interesting.” Daniel pulled out his pokedex, sighing when the scanner pinged negative. “Man, you really are a new breed. Alexander wasn’t kidding.”

“Mistress Anita gave me something for your device.” The girl reached back and snagged her bag, rummaging until she pulled out a small data chip. “This should add the entry Master Alexander has been working on to your device.”

Daniel took the offered chip and slotted it into the reader on his pokedex, waiting while the data downloaded. When it beeped he pulled it out and pointed the scanner at the pokegirl again. This time an entry and sub entry popped up.

The Aetheris embodies the potential of magic as it seeks to combine with the natural world. Shooting gouts of flame, earth, water, or wind with nothing more than a wave of their hands, Aetheris can turn a simple battlefield into a maelstrom of energy at a moment’s notice. However, each Aetheris can only focus their power through a single element. And as each Aetheris chooses their path, and refines their techniques, the very nature of their power shapes them as well.

Standing between four and six feet tall, with an average around 5’6” the base Aetheris portrays the full range of human appearance. Depending on one’s heritage, they could bear any range of skin, hair, and eye colors. In fact, it is nearly impossible to distinguish an Aetheris from a regular human female, unless you were to notice a brief elemental discharge as the Aetheris experimented with her magic. This is something they do frequently, as even the most indecisive Aetheris will seek one of the four elemental paths to follow. Thus it is quite rare to actually see a base Aetheris, and most are very young.

Once an Aetheris chooses which path she will follow, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Most of the time these are simple things, lasting only a few days as the Aetheris seeks a natural focus at which to meditate. Water Aetheris for example may go to the nearest lake, or river, and spend hours focusing on the water there, looking to discover and understand its true nature. Once the Aetheris has found her answers, she gains the knowledge with which to conduct elemental spells of her chosen element more easily. This change is always marked by an outpouring of magical energy, which stabilizes as a tattoo somewhere on the Aetheris’ body. Each elemental path has a different tattoo, and newly chosen Aetheris will often hide their tattoo from others until they come into their newfound power. After a certain amount of training, however, the tattoo is the least telling feature of an Aetheris – their magic changes them, taking their human appearance and adding supernatural features.

A Fire Aetheris’ hair will change from whatever color it had been before to a much warmer color. Reds, fiery browns, and striking blondes have been recorded. Likewise, their eyes will change, most becoming a vibrant orange, with other ‘hot’ colors reported. Fire Aetheris may also find their skin darkening slightly, taking a permanent tan shade, if it wasn’t already, and the raw force of their magic empowers them, allowing the otherwise unassuming girl greater strength than their form belies.

A Wind Aetheris will find her body slimming, becoming more aerodynamic. Many are reported to have slightly pointed ears, and every member of this path to date has had pupil less eyes, though this does not affect their eyesight. In addition, their magic allows them to always move with the wind at their backs, achieving greater speeds than the other Aetheris paths.

A Water Aetheris seems to change the most. Initially the changes are very hard to perceive, though the Aetheris will attempt to spend more time in the presence of water. As time goes on the webbing on her feet and hands becomes more pronounced, as are the gills that form on her chest. Bypassing the windpipe, these gills feed oxygen directly to the Water Aetheris’ lungs. This combined with her proclivity to use low level hydrokinesis to keep her body moist allow the Water Aetheris a greater oxygen supply than her other paths, allowing her to keep moving longer, even when her Tamer has long since collapsed out of breath. This ability unfortunately has its drawbacks; leave a Water Aetheris dry for a large amount of time and her gills will close in order to preserve whatever moisture they can. This sudden lack of oxygen can cause the girl to seize up, as muscles that usually work harder find they need to slow down. Thus it is recommended to always keep a Water Aetheris well hydrated, be it by natural water sources or high humidity environments, or just a bath twice a day.

An Earth Aetheris changes inversely to the Wind Aetheris. While the Wind Aetheris’ body slims for greater aerodynamics, the Earth Aetheris’ body bulks up. Her muscle mass expands, and while this does not provide the strength inherent in the Fire Aetheris, it proves quite useful for taking blows. Strikes that would break another Aetheris’ body are shrugged off as a mere annoyance by an Earth Aetheris. In addition, she also has some changes to her appearance; skin color universally darkens, and hair stops growing at shoulder length. The resulting Pokegirl looks more like a bodybuilder than the mage she is.

No matter which path an Aetheris chooses, she can change it later. With enough meditation, inversely related to the amount of training she has put into her current elemental path, an Aetheris can unlearn one element and embrace another. This process is so draining that only a very few Aetheris have ever undertaken it, as their very nature is destroyed and rebuilt in the process.

In battle, each Aetheris prefers a different fighting style that makes use of their individual abilities. Wind Aetheris employ hit and run tactics, preferring to whittle away at their opponents rather than committing to an all-out fight. Water Aetheris prefer drawn out fights as well, though their tactics are more aimed at forcing their opponent into range, at which point the Water Aetheris can loose an attack that has a better chance of connecting. Conversely, Fire Aetheris prefer to keep their enemies at range. Taking potshots they use their abilities more defensively, biding their time, knowing that it really only takes one hit for them to gain the upper hand. Earth Aetheris take the fight to their opponents, trusting in their innate resilience to take a few hits before dishing out an equally powerful counter attack.

Outside of battle, each path of this breed behaves very differently. Wind Aetheris are flighty, enjoying multiple conversations while they show off their speed to those around them. Water Aetheris are quiet, speaking only when spoken to, unless it is someone they inherently trust. Fire Aetheris are very outspoken and rambunctious, though never enough to get them in trouble. Earth Aetheris are clingy. Almost always found with her hand somewhere on her Tamer, you might get the idea that this well-built girl is shy, or insecure. Far from it. Once she has found someone she likes, she will make sure she is always prepared to defend them.

All Aetheris are usually found with other magical Pokegirls. They are often found with researchers, their innate knowledge of their element proving invaluable. In a combat team, most Aetheris are content in taking a support role, standing back and analyzing the situation before using her magic to give her teammates an upper hand.

In bed, all Aetheris return to their roots. Whatever they liked before choosing a path is still their favorite. Sometimes this can cause an interesting mix – a stoic Earth Aetheris might enjoy being dominated, or the normally reclusive Water Aetheris might drag a few others with her. Regardless, it is best to find out what an Aetheris likes by directly asking her. Once in the bedroom, they are not shy with expressing their tastes.

The vast majority of children born from an Aetheris are human. The few Pokegirls that are born are always Aetheris, and without proper caution are liable to begin experimenting as soon as the notion hits them. These usually cause minor hilarities, like a missing eyebrow or extra-powerful farts. But sometimes these elemental bursts can lead to the death of the newborn Aetheris, so having another magic Pokegirl on hand to dampen the baby’s power is highly recommended. Human children born from this union sometimes exhibit heightened abilities, or a calling that drives them to nature. Sometimes this calling can manifest itself destructively, like pyromania, but usually it is merely a strong feeling of belonging whenever they are away from civilization. Threshold children always become an Aetheris, and usually take the path their mother follows. The change is marked by an increased interest in the elements, and is finalized when the new Aetheris is successfully able to summon one.

Feral Aetheris, while uncommon, are highly dangerous to approach. Feral Aetheris will seek out other Pokegirls of their element, forming symbiotic relationships of power. If there are signs of an Aetheris in the area, preparing for a large fight is recommended. In the rare case that a base Aetheris goes feral, her experiments grow more and more powerful as she wanders from elemental focus to elemental focus. If these aren’t captured and tamed quickly, their experiments can easily start localized natural disasters or kill the Aetheris.

“Interesting.” Daniel looked up from the sub entry, the short text merely mentioning the Water Aetheris’ enhanced endurance. “So, do you have to meditate every time you want to swap? The gills are mentioned as a pretty advanced feature.”

The girl nodded. “I’m terribly indecisive, Master. By this point I’ve gotten used to the work it takes to go back and forth.”

“Hm.” Daniel closed the pokedex. “Well, you had no idea what you were getting into, I suppose. I’m not a researcher.”

The pokegirl shrugged. “I suspected as much, Master. What are you?”

“I’m a Tamer.” Daniel chuckled. “Specifically, I’m aiming for the Blue League Championship. Which means I want you to be battle ready.”

The Aetheris grinned at him. “I would greatly enjoy that, Master. We did some strength testing in the lab, but I’ve always wanted to truly test myself.”

That was what Daniel had read in her psyche profile, but he didn’t reveal that. “Glad to hear it.” He raised an eyebrow. “Now then. My harem currently consists of mostly Magic, Psychic, and Fighting types. Which means an elemental type will greatly benefit us. But you’ll have to choose a path and stick with it.”

The Aetheris sighed. “I suppose I’m not strong enough yet to do it all. Well, I already was working on my water techniques. Should I continue?”

“Either water or fire works for me.” Daniel shrugged. “But, I’ll let you decide that. Do you have a name? I only know you as Gamma.”

The Aetheris blinked. “No, Master. Only the ones Master Alexander is personally researching are named.  The rest of us were given designations.”

“Hm.” Daniel thought. “How does Briog sound? If you don’t like it, I can shorten it to Bri.”

“Bri…og?” The girl frowned. “That doesn’t sound like a name.”

“Mmm. It is around here. An old name.” Daniel smiled. “But I’m fine with Bri. I’ll know the full name, and that’s all I need.”

The newly named Bri nodded. “Whatever works for you, Master.”

“Quite.” Daniel leaned back to take a second look at his new pokegirl. “So, no top to let you breath, yes?”

“That’s right, Master.” Bri stretched, making a happy noise as Daniel heard something pop. “Ohhh, it feels so good to be outside.”

“Alexander didn’t let you outside?” Daniel raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Not often.” Bri continued stretching, finally dropping her arms and rolling her shoulders to loosen them. “So, when do we begin training?”

“As soon as you choose fire or water.” Daniel smirked. “And possibly after we take care of what you’ve caused.”

Bri slid off his lap and pointedly turned away from his erection. “I’ll stick with water, Master. I can smell the sea here. It’ll be better for me with the moisture in the air.”

“That’s fine.” Daniel brushed at his crotch, grimacing at the wet cloth. “Damn. My pants are soaked. I might need to change.”

“Sorry, Master. I don’t need to soak myself anymore now that I’m here.” Bri reached over and ran her hands over Daniel’s groin until she had drawn the water out. “I shouldn’t get you all wet anymore.”

Daniel just snorted, doing his best to control his blood pressure as Bri’s hands stroked his cock through the cloth. “If you keep doing that, you won’t have a choice in what comes next.”

Bri frowned, the final bead slipping out of the fabric and quivering along her finger as she played with it absentmindedly. “Is my teasing out of line, Master?”

“Not especially, but you shouldn’t start something you won’t be able to finish.” Daniel felt his pants, nodding slightly. “You really sucked all the water out. That’s pretty handy.”

Bri gave him a deadpan stare. “I’m not a clothes washer.”

“I never said you were.” Daniel chuckled. “I just thought it.”

“Of course, Master.” Bri waited patiently for him to make another move, huffing slightly when he remained on the bench. “Master, weren’t we going to train?”

“I’m thinking about it.” Daniel stroked his chin as he stared at her chest. “Are those gills sensitive?”

Bri looked down and ran her fingers along her side. “Not especially, Master.”

“How do you think it would feel if someone punched them?” Daniel asked curiously. “If they’re a weak point, that’s bad.”

Bri’s initial fear melted away to curiosity as Daniel explained his thinking. “I… Don’t know, Master.” She made an abortive motion at her own side. “I… We should probably find out.”

“Come here.” Daniel raised an eyebrow when Bri didn’t move. “I’ll be as gentle as I can.”

Bri gave a hesitant nod and stepped in front of him, allowing Daniel to lay his hand over her left side.

“Does that hurt?” Daniel asked, carefully applying pressure to the slits. When Bri shook her head he increased the pressure, finally grabbing her body with his other hand as he squeezed.

Bri struggled slightly in his grasp but had surprise written across her face. “I can barely feel that, Master.”

“It’s resisting the pressure. How about-“ Daniel started before whipping his hand back and sending a quick jab into Bri’s side.

Bri coughed at the impact but easily pulled away, gently rubbing her side. “Nothing, Master.”

Daniel shook his hand. “Ow. I hit a wall of muscle. So the answer is no, the gills are no more of a weak spot than any other point on your body. Heck, they might even be better protected.”

“Mystery solved.” Bri tapped at a light bruise that was beginning to form. “Was that all you wanted to do, Master?”

“Not really. Can you show me what you can do?”

Bri nodded, raising her hands and beginning to condense the water around her. “Where should I aim?”

“I have a place in mind.” Daniel chuckled, pulling a pokeball off his belt. “Although it’s more of a who, not a where.”

Bri froze as he triggered the release, the water splattering back to the ground when Aria materializing and looked around sullenly. “Oh, this fucking place looks familiar.” Aria snarled.

“How are you feeling, Aria?” Daniel asked, prompting the Neo-Iczel to look around for the source of his voice. “On the bench.”

Aria turned and tried to give him a sneer that quickly devolved into a scowl. “I feel fine.”

“Really? Because your face says otherwise.” Daniel’s gaze was carefully neutral. “You’ve caused problems twice now. Both times you were shown you were wrong. Is there going to be a third?”

Aria growled but shook her head. “Fuck. No. I’m not... I’m not strong enough for a third.”

Daniel’s mouth popped open in surprise at her admission and he stared. “You- wow. You really just admitted that.” He snapped his mouth shut. “I’m going to hold you to those words.”

Aria looked as if she had just bitten into a lemon. “I know. You even have a witness.” She turned to measure up Bri. “Though I’ve never seen her before. Is she with us?”

Bri blinked at Aria. “With… us? But you don’t call Master Master.”

“So she is a new girl. I thought we were full?” She asked Daniel with turning away from Bri.

“Lea touched an Angel stone.” Now it was Daniel who looked like he was sucking lemons. “So I licensed her as a free pokegirl and let her run off on whatever holy adventure she wants.”

“Well. Fuck.” Aria scratched her head. “I liked that girl. She wasn’t as strong as some of the rest of us but she still worked hard.”

Daniel snorted. “She was stronger than you. Probably stronger than a few of the harem, even now.” He shook his head. “But that doesn’t matter. She’s gone. Which means I had to find some way to patch the hole. Luckily, my aunt caught wind of my situation, and through a colleague of a colleague I got Bri.” He chuckled. “For free. Which was pretty nice.”

“Hmm. So we’ve finally got a water pokegirl?” Aria mused as she circled Bri. “She’s mighty skinny. Are you sure she can fight?”

“We were about to find out.” Daniel shrugged. “But to be honest, the way I was going to do so is no longer necessary. I’ll test her later. Bri, do you want anything? New clothes, equipment, anything?”

Bri shook her head. “I have everything I might need, Master. Master Alexander also sent me with many evolution and other items, for experiments.”

Daniel raised an eyebrow. “All of that in that little bag? What is it, a pokepack?”

         “Something like that, Master.”

“Alright.” Daniel made sure she was ready before recalling her and turning to Aria. “Then I guess you and Lily are the only ones I don’t know about yet. I do know that we need to get you a new combat bodysuit.”

Aria blinked before glancing down at her exposed midriff. “Oh. Right, that cat bitch split this one open.”

“That she did. Thankfully it looks like your evolution hasn’t caused a catastrophic amount of extra damage to it.” Daniel started to turn towards downtown before stopping and swiveling back. “Wha… wait.” Aria watched, confused, as Daniel peered closer to her stomach before slowly rotating his head until he was looking side on. “That is trippy.”

“Uh… what?” Aria stared at him. “What is?”

Daniel glanced up from his position before straightening. “Turn your head.”

         “I don’t-“

“Turn your head.” Daniel repeated, grabbing her cheeks and gently pushing.

Aria relented, staring off into the park as Daniel ran his eyes over her face. “Would you hurry up and tell me what you’re doing.”

“I’m looking at your markings.” Daniel swiveled his head and chuckled. “That’s really cool.”

“I didn’t know I had markings.” Aria turned her head back. “But I’ve always wanted some. Can you take a picture?”

“I can try.” Daniel pulled out his pokedex. “You have to turn sideways, though. When I’m looking at them straight on they disappear.”

Aria nodded and turned slightly, waiting for the shutter to click before eagerly reaching for the pokedex.

Daniel handed it over and marveled at the light silver markings he could barely see flashing across her exposed skin. “Hey Aria, you should be more well equipped to do real magic now, right?”

Aria looked up from where she was studying her picture and nodded. “I should.” She blinked. “Do you think these are related?”

Daniel nodded. “Maybe. Charge a Power Bolt real quick.”

Aria focused, beginning to concentrate her power in her fist. Daniel whistled as the barely visible marks suddenly flared with light, racing up and across her body. As the glow around Aria’s fist rapidly brightened, so did they, until he could clearly see the pattern across her stomach and face.

“Alright, let it drop.” Daniel called, snagging the pokedex from where Aria had set it down and snapping another picture. He waited for the energy to dissipate before showing her the picture. “You’re sure you don’t recognize these?”

Aria took one look and her eyes bugged out. “I – I do! I’d always imagined that I had a full body tattoo as a Kamichu. I even tried to get the design I imagined printed on a bodysuit to wear. But it was never quite right.” Suddenly she reached back, struggling for a moment before releasing something to allow the material to pop forwards. “Is it everywhere?” She called as she slid out of the arms.

Daniel couldn’t help but stare as the chest peeled away to reveal the real size of Aria’s new form for the first time. It was suddenly very obvious to him why the bodysuit had been having so much trouble before. “I, uh…”

Aria glanced up from trying to work the material past her waist and sighed. “Daniel.” She waited and rolled her eyes. “DANIEL.”

He snapped up to her face. “Yea?”

“If you don’t stop staring, I’m going to put my t-shirt on.”

Daniel suddenly had a vision of what Aria might look like in one of her old t-shirts. “I’d be ok with that.”

Aria narrowed her eyes and growled. “I’m able to fly now. If you don’t stop staring and answer my question, before moving to help get me new clothes in a timely manner, you won’t get to see these for a long, long time.”

Daniel grumbled but relented and readied the camera, still openly ogling as Aria finished removing the bodysuit.

“Record this.” She called, slowly beginning to turn in place.

Daniel triggered the recording and sat. Aria continued her pace for a few seconds, giving the camera a baseline, before beginning to charge another Power Bolt as she turned. Daniel felt his gaze slowly drawn away from Aria’s breasts as the markings began to shimmer. He was able to pinpoint exactly where the energy was flowing by the markings as they flared, sending rivers of silver twisting around her body and focusing down her arm until, once again, her entire body was lit up.

Aria made a few full rotations before releasing the spell, allowing the energy to dissipate before stopping and running over to him. “Was it cool? Please tell me it was cool. Was it?”

Daniel couldn’t help but laugh at Aria’s excitement and nodded. “It was very cool. And unbelievably sexy. Are you sure you need clothes?”

Aria smiled and snatched the pokedex, stopping the recording before gingerly sitting next to him. “We’re the perfect team, remember? I can’t have my backup constantly distracted.”

Daniel smiled back. “Yea, I suppose. I guess I’m just feeling a bit horny from having two beautiful topless, and, in one case, bottomless women around me in the last few minutes. We’ll get you something that fits.”

“Mmm.” Aria leaned her head on his shoulder as she watched the playback. “You know, I think I’ll want a bodysuit again. My opponents could use these brilliant tattoos to know when I’m about to launch an attack.”

Daniel grimaced. “Fuck, really? I mean, that’s a good point, but I was hoping I could have my battle goddess looking like even more of an absolute badass while she fights.”

“You always say the nicest things.” Aria snuggled closer. “I wonder if I can control them?”

“Maybe.” Daniel shifted uncomfortably as he felt his pants catch on his erection. “We can probably try that later.”

“Hmm. I want to try it now.” Aria slowly separated from him, every movement deliberate as she stood. “I’m in no rush.”

Daniel grit his teeth as Aria fought back a smirk. “You wench. You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”

Aria pretended not to hear, standing still for a minute. Suddenly she began charging another spell, and this time Daniel wasn’t able to see the markings until the split second before she raised her hand and blasted a wall of air at a nearby tree, which shuddered from the impact.

“Interesting.” Was all she had to say before sitting down and beginning to meditate.

Daniel sighed and watched her back for a few minutes before opening the Aetheris pokedex entry and familiarizing himself with it, as well as the second tier evolution Alexander had discovered. He was halfway through reading the second entry when he heard Aria clear her throat and looked up. He blinked. “Holy hell.”

Aria had a huge grin on her face as she literally glowed, the markings pulsing softly. “I figured it out. All I have to do is embrace the magic.”

Daniel raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean by that?”

“Well, they charged while I was charging my spell, right?” Aria explained. “Then I tried to cast something like I had as a Kamichu, only reaching for the power right before the spell finished. Like I did during my… beat down with my Alpha.” She paused, visibly upset that she was showing that level of respect to Cyrene. “And nobody seemed to notice these then. That was the air blast. But I felt something right at the end, so I tried to isolate that feeling, and now…” She raised her hands and grinned at the lines running across the back of her arms.

Daniel clapped excitedly. “Well done! How do you feel?”

Aria turned her hand over and shrugged. “I think this is draining me slightly, but at the same time…” she trailed off, whirling and instantly sending another blast of air at the tree. This one had much more force behind it, sending a loud crack through the air as the bark split and leaves began to rain down. Aria began giggling uncontrollably. “OH YEA. I feel a lot more powerful.”

“Faster, too.” Daniel had a shit-eating grin plastered across his face. “No charge up time.”

“Yea.” Aria bounced on the balls of her feet, sending her breasts jumping in time. “I want something special. Can we get me something special?”

Daniel did his best to give her a glare. “You know, I know you’re playing me.”

“You’ll like it.” Aria slowed, allowing the bouncing to settle. “Please?”

“I did say I was going to get you some new clothes. On one condition.” Daniel stood and patted down his lap. “After your evolution you said you needed a rain check. I’m calling that in as soon as we finish.”

Aria laughed in relief and nodded. “Please.”

“Or we could do it-“ Daniel started before Aria began jogging downtown. “-or noT WAIT UP!” Aria kept her pace slow to allow Daniel to scramble up to her and fall in. “Do you even know where you’re going?”

She shrugged. “No idea, but I knew I wanted to get going, so I did.”

“Sorry. That was rude.” Daniel took the lead, steering Aria towards the shop he had bought Cyrene’s clothes in. “This way. I know a good seamstress.”

Aria let him, gazing down with a smile. “That’s the first time you’ve apologized to me.”

Daniel started and glanced up. “Eh? What about… no, you’re right. Interesting.” He thought for a moment. “I guess up to now I didn’t feel like I had anything to apologize about.”

“Or was it that I wasn’t worth apologizing to?” Aria asked, her voice soft to offset the cutting words. “It’s ok. That’s how you think. But it makes this apology worth so much more.”

Daniel was silent for another few blocks before nodding. “That’s all true. Have you noticed that you are one of the only ones who call me by name?”

Aria shrugged. “I did, but I figure the others want to call you Master or Sir.”

“Mostly they do.” Daniel paused. “But Noeth and Lea both refused to call me anything at first, until I ordered them both to call me Sir.”

“You’ve never given me an order like that.” Aria stopped and turned to fully face him. “Why?”

“I don’t really know.” Daniel sighed. “I mean, the why is obvious. I want you to like me, so I let you call me by name. But why I want you to like me… I don’t know.”

“You were afraid.” Aria reached over and took his hand. “Afraid that I would want nothing to do with you after my evolution. That’s why.”

“Maybe.” Daniel held her hand for a few moments before pulling away. “But now I will gladly stoke your ego, because you are a blazing beacon of badass and we need to get you something special.”

Aria grinned and followed him down the street until they reached the store. Once they were inside she disappeared down an aisle and Daniel could hear her talking excitedly with someone as he meandered his way over.

“And if it can be open here, and here, and reinforced here…” Daniel heard as he rounded the corner to see Aria excitedly tracing patterns along her body in front of an equally excited Seamstress.

“How’s it going?” Both pokegirls turned at Daniel’s call, the Seamstress brightening.

“You had the Airmaiden, yes?” She gushed. “That was such a beautiful alteration. Is this your pokegirl as well?”

Daniel nodded. “Aria’s with me. And speaking of Cyrene, she’ll need to talk to you as well. She’d like to have her garments made ready for combat.”

The Seamstress nodded. “I can help with that. But first, this one. She wants a-“ she paused as Aria hurriedly whispered in her ear. “Oh. A surprise?”

Daniel rolled his eyes. “Whatever she wants.”

The Seamstress’ eyes lit up. “Whatever the pokegirl wants once again. You are good to them.”

Daniel shrugged. “Whatever keeps them happy.”

“Of course, sir.” The Seamstress turned back to Aria. “Well, I guess we should head back, if this is a private order.”

Daniel watched them go. Looking around to make sure the store was empty he triggered Lily’s release.

“We’re alone.” He said as she materialized and began glancing around. “And we’re at the clothing store I bought Cyrene’s dress at. I figure they’ll be able to do something that you like.”

Lily gazed around, nodding at what she saw. “Do they do custom work?”

Daniel nodded back. “Yea. In fact, Aria is back there getting something now.”

Lily’s eyes lit up. “Awesome.” She wrapped her tail around his shoulders, pulling him in for a real hug. “Thank you.”

Daniel returned the hug, snickering as Lily shifted back as he poked her thigh. “Sorry. You’re the third naked pokegirl in the last hour. It’s all I can do to hold it together.”

Lily slowly slid her hand down his chest. “Should I take care of that for you?” she whispered sultrily.

“I really wish I had J’Kessa for this.” Emmanuel murmured as he peered out from the illusion Damika was maintaining. “I need my explosives expert.”

“You’ve already called in two sizable favors.” Damika’s fingers twitched as she redirected the magic slightly. “And we don’t even know if one of them will keep his word to look the other way.”

“He knows I’ve got information that would crucify him. He’ll run interference.” Emmanuel nodded slightly. “Arania’s in place. We’re going. Now.”

Damika raised her hands, power surging through the courtyard. At the door to the compound the two guards yelled, one pulling out a gun that she used to fire wildly through the air around her. Emmanuel snickered as the second collapsed, screaming and clawing at her eyes. “I never get tired of you doing that.”

Damika didn’t respond, teleporting forwards and swiftly incapacitating the armed guard. Emmanuel ran behind her, chanting softly as his body began to emit black smoke.

“I’d appreciate if you didn’t hurt my people.” The two froze and whirled towards the source of the voice. “I would rather keep Uriel for a while longer, but I’d much rather avoid a fight with you.”

Emmanuel clicked his teeth, the pellet he had been holding popping and trickling liquid down his throat. “Nika.”

The Seraphim chuckled as Emmanuel’s eyes began to glow. “I sure hope those aren’t expensive. I already told you, I have no intention of fighting you.” She teleported to avoid a raging torrent of magic, turning to wave as Arania faded into view. “Hello!”

“Where is she.” Emmanuel’s voice was tense as the smoke began to coalesce. “TELL ME.”

“Still as rude as ever.” Nika sighed. “Oh well. I’ll tell you what – show me if you’re stronger than her replacement, and I’ll give her back.” She cackled, vanishing before reappearing and dropping a pokegirl into the courtyard. “Sariel, do escort our guests out, won’t you?”

Emmanuel tsked as he felt the new pokegirl’s aura wash over them and braced himself, pulling Moira’s pokeball from his belt. “I’m not in the mood.” He released her. “Moira. Damika. Arania. Steamroll this bitch.
