Pure Vanilla Chapter 7

         Daniel yawned and opened his eyes, the sun sliding low in the sky. Sitting up, he looked around for Cyrene. Not seeing her, he began to get to his feet when a movement in the grass froze him in place.

         He only saw a silhouette of a pokegirl before he heard a yell and Cyrene sped past him, her feet not even touching the earth as she dove into the grass and began swinging her axe wildly.

         Daniel winced in sympathy as blood splattered the ground. “Cyrene! That’s enough!”

         Cyrene slowed, breathing heavily as she stared at the pokegirl in front of her. Shifting the grass with her weapon she revealed a Mongoosed, a look of pure shock on the sleek pokegirl’s face as she slowly bled out.

         “Please grab a pokeball.” Daniel implored her.

         Cyrene grunted, jogging off and returning with a pokeball which she used to peg the dying feral. “She finally showed herself.” She explained.

         Daniel nodded. “Been hunting that one for a while?”

         Cyrene shrugged. “She was watchin’ us fuck. I pretended tah leave but she didn’t take the bait until yeh woke up.”

         “You were using me as bait?” Daniel asked.

         Cyrene blinked. “No, of course not.” She replied. “Yeh just happened tah be left alone for a while.”

         “Uh huh.” Daniel grumbled. “Please don’t make a habit out of doing that.”

         Cyrene bowed. “I’m sorry, Master.”

         “You’re forgiven.” Daniel soothed. “But I need to find my clothes.”

         “Still in the tent.” Cyrene replied. “Also, Trish wishes to speak with yeh.”

         Daniel nodded, walking past her and into the main clearing. He could see Trish meditating but turned for his clothing first, deciding that whatever she needed was probably better received while he wasn’t nude.

         Trish stirred as he approached. “Master.”

         Daniel groaned as he sat down beside her. “Hey. I’m feeling pretty sore.”

         Trish reflexively touched her breasts. “I know how that feels.”

         “Yea. I probably went too far that night.” He gazed out over the evening scenery. “You wanted to talk to me.”

         “I’ve been doing some reading.” Trish explained, gesturing at Daniel’s pokedex where it lay open in front of her. “I then meditated and searched for an answer. I believe I have found it.”

         “What was the question?”

         “If I can protect as I am now.” Trish replied simply. “I know this is sudden, but over the last week I have felt no stronger than I did before. In fact, I feel weaker than I was as a Slicer. The only way I feel I would be able to protect you adequately would be to evolve and become a Samurai.”

         “You’ve done fine these last few days.” Daniel replied. “You’ve kept the camp completely clear of ferals, and that’s saying something since Cyrene and I were basically having sex at all times.”

         “That may be so, but it does not change the fact that I do not feel powerful enough.”

         Daniel nodded. “Alright. But once you evolve, and lose a battle. What will that mean to you? Will you give up?” He shook his head. “You can protect me by getting stronger, Trish. You don’t need to evolve to do that.”

         “But it would grant me the immediate ability to do so.” Trish murmured.

         Daniel sighed and reached for his pokedex, bringing up the messaging system. “Ok. Fine.” He tapped in his father’s number and hit call.

         His dad picked up after a few rings, beaming at him. “Daniel! You haven’t called in a while. How’s it going?”

         “It’s going great, dad.” Daniel replied with a smile. “I’m over in Magikunt Village right now getting ready to challenge the gym. We beat Cardiff a few weeks ago.”

         “Congratulations!” His dad exclaimed. “How are your two girls holding up? Have either of them evolved?”

         “I actually have four now.” Daniel replied. “A Loner and a Magic Knight. And Trish and Lea have evolved, too. Lea evolved into an Armsmistress, and Trish into a Ronin, which is actually why I was calling.”

         “A Magic Knight.” His dad said in awe. “I’m impressed, Daniel. That’s not an easy pokegirl to deal with. Unless you evolved her, in which case I’m even more impressed.”

         Daniel chuckled. “Yea, we spent the last week getting to know each other before she finally evolved.”

         His father laughed until he started coughing. “I’m sure you know each other intimately.” He finally managed to get out.

         Daniel rolled his eyes. “Yes. Well, she knows me. I need to relearn everything about her.”

         “That’s what happens when pokegirls evolve.” His father replied. “So. Ronin?”

         “Ronin.” Daniel replied, moving the camera so it picked up Trish as well. “She’s very insistent on moving up quickly, so that she can adequately protect me.”

         “Hm.” His dad nodded. “It has been quite a few months since you got her, so I can understand her worry. How long ago did she evolve?”

         “Just last week.”

         “Yea, that’s strange. Usually she’d have evolved well before that.” His dad sighed. “Well, you’ll need a Dawn Stone. And you know how rare those are.”

         “Not as rare as people are led to believe, but rare enough that they’re not on the open market.” Daniel quipped.

         His dad grinned. “You got it. I can probably get one, of course. If all else fails I’ll send Angelica looking. But it isn’t going to be cheap.”

         “I’m asking for one as a customer. Not as your son.” Daniel replied. “I would never ask for something that expensive as a gift.”

         His dad smiled. “Good answer.” He looked away from the screen for a moment. “Well, I’ll look around. Anything else you want me to look for?”

         “Actually, I do.” Daniel rested his chin on his hands. “I had to cancel my bid for a Kamichu a little while ago. The girl is probably long gone, but if you could keep your eyes open while you’re looking for the stone, I’d appreciate it.”

         His dad’s eyes widened. “A Kamichu? You had the money to bid on one of those? You’ve been busy.” He nodded. “I’ll do that. Got a price range I need to stay under for the stone and girl?”

         “I captured enough ferals to put nearly 700 points on my scorecard.” Daniel replied drily. “I’ve spent a lot of it on a pokepack and various items, but I’m not as poor as when I left home.”

         “The Dawn Stone is going to be expensive.” His father warned. “At least half a million. And a Kamichu is going to be hard to find in the first place, and probably another half a million to a million for her. Unless I can find a feral, but with how rare those girls are a feral might be a thinly disguised problem instead of an affordable option.”

         Daniel took a shaky breath at the numbers. “So, I’ll need at least two million SLC to be safe.”

         “Feel like hunting a Mantis?” His dad joked. “I’d assume you have the half million or so already, since you were bidding on a Kamichu. If need be I’ll take the cost and you can pay me back when you can.”

         “Thanks.” Daniel muttered. “That might take me a year.”

         “I’ll start looking, anyways.” His dad replied. “I’ve got an old friend that keeps a ranch of sorts of Treant pokegirls, so I’m sure he’s got some Dawn stones laying around. If not, well, I’ll find something.”

         “And we’ll start looking for ways to make the money.” Daniel grumbled, terminating the connection. “Shit.” He clamped his hand over Trish’s mouth as she made to speak. “Don’t apologize. I’d have to find the stone eventually, and you wanting it now doesn’t change the fact that it’s expensive.” He opened the want ads, scrolling through until he found what he was looking for. “Here’s a good start. Farmer needs someone to clear out a feral infestation. He’ll pay a flat rate, plus 5,000 per head and we can keep anything we catch.” He began counting on his fingers. “I need around 300,000 to safely purchase the Dawn Stone. We’ll spend a few weeks hunting, so this ought to pay…” He trailed off. “Depending on the infestation, it could be all we need. The listing isn’t very specific, though.”

         “Where is it?” Trish asked.

         “Back near Cardiff.” Daniel read. “Somewhere in the interior.” He tapped to confirm he was on his way and closed the dex. “Let’s move. Lea will be ready sometime tomorrow, so let’s get into Cardiff tonight.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
         Daniel sat and marveled as Lea turned around to display what she had created. “…and I decided not to always wear the helmet.” She continued. “It’s nice and works well, but I want to modify it so it’s a little less restrictive.”
         “How long would that take?” Daniel asked.
         “I can do it without the forge.” Lea clarified. “The real work is done.”
         “That’s good.” Daniel replied. “We’ve missed having you around.”
         Lea grinned, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “Do you like the design?”
         Daniel nodded. Lea had opted for a very light covering of actual metal, most of the armor consisting of beaten leather that afforded her full movement. “It allows you to move as if you were wearing nothing but a bra and panties, right?” He teased.
         Lea’s cheeks reddened but she nodded. “Just as well as before.” She mumbled.
         “Well I like it.” Daniel glanced at her left breast, noticing the symbol stamped there. “Do you like the emblem?”
         Lea nodded and rubbed at it. “I find it fits you.”
         “So did Cyrene.” He nodded at Moira. “Thank you.”
         Moira shrugged. “My pleasure. Master Adams says you’re looking for a Dawn Stone?”
         Daniel blinked. “My dad already told you about that?”
         Moira laughed. “Of course. He asked each of us first for information before moving on to his own sources. No luck so far.”
         Daniel sighed. “Well, if he takes a few weeks I won’t complain. I still need to make sure I can pay him.”
         “Your Ronin will appreciate the work you put in for her.” Moira said with a smile. “Once you find the stone, bring her back here, would you? I haven’t had a decent sparring partner in years.”
         Daniel frowned. “You mean you didn’t beat up Lea while she was here?”
         Lea made an exasperated sigh and Moira grinned. “Oh, I tried. I stopped when I realized she doesn’t use swords.”
         “Huh.” Daniel chuckled. “Well, I need to get moving and start making the money I need. See you around, Moira.”
         She waved him out the door, Lea falling in behind Daniel’s right shoulder. “Where are we going?” She asked curiously. “I thought we were challenging the Magikunt Village gym.”
         “We will, but not for a little while.” Daniel replied. “A lot has changed while you were gone. Everyone needs to get used to their new abilities, and if we manage to get this Dawn Stone for Trish, she’ll need even more time to adapt.”
         “Everyone does?” Lea asked. “Everyone has evolved?”
         “Yup.” Daniel breezed past a young tamer and ignored the kid’s shouts. “We’re going north right now. There’s a farm up there that’s being attacked by ferals. We’re going to clear them out, sell the ferals, and get paid to do so.”
         “I CHALLENGE YOU FOR SALVAGE!” Daniel heard the guy scream behind him.
         Daniel came to a halt, turned, and looked at the tamer evenly. “You challenge me for salvage?”
         “YEA.” The kid shouted, a grin on his face. “My parents gave me a really powerful pokegirl. I’m going to use her to take that armored girl!”
         “Sure kid. One on one.” Daniel gestured. “Who’s yours?”
         The tamer held out a pokeball and released an extremely beautiful pokegirl. “Freeha, let’s go!”
         Daniel pulled out his pokedex and scanned her, nodding in respect. “Kid’s parents really like him. That’s a Love Dove.” He glanced at Lea. “She’s gonna try to fuck you silly. Think you can handle it?”
         Lea scrubbed at her eyes. “Honestly, no.” She said sheepishly.
         “That’s fine.” Daniel replied, pulling out Cyrene’s pokeball. “Cyrene can handle this.”
         The other tamer frowned when Daniel release Cyrene. “I challenged you for the armored one.” He called.
         “Doesn’t mean I have to use her.” Daniel replied. “And besides, I’ve got more than one armored pokegirl.” He leaned in close to Cyrene’s ear. “That’s a decent fighter, but her main threat is sex attacks. How are you feeling?”
         Cyrene sniffed the air and made a face. “Ah can smell her. It’s sweet, but a little over the top.”
         “Excellent. Beat her to a pulp for me, would you?”
         Cyrene’s eyes lit up and she walked forwards, assuming a ready stance. “That’s Cyrene?” Lea asked curiously. “She’s a lot taller.”
         “By about half a foot.” Daniel agreed. “She’s now also able to do what she loves best.”
         The Love Dove moved first, her hips swaying as she walked up to Cyrene seductively. “We don’t need to fight, you know.” She cooed. “I’m sure our Master would prefer we didn’t hurt each other.”
         Cyrene blinked, Daniel feeling her laughter as she pretended to give in to the Hypnotic Gaze. “Our… Master?”
         “But of course.” The Love Dove whispered, tracing her hands across Cyrene’s voluptuous breasts. “Master Benjamin is a wondrous lover. Much better than anything I’m sure you’ve ever experienced.”
         Daniel snickered as he felt Cyrene’s amusement immediately shift to anger and her hand shot out to grab the Love Dove by the throat. “Yehr child wouldn’t know pleasure if I beat it into him.” She hissed, her armor suddenly forming, the gauntlets increasing the pressure on the Love Dove’s throat to the point where she gave up and was just thrashing at Cyrene’s face to try and break free. Cyrene ignored her attempts and raised her axe, the blades glinting in the sun as she sent it whistling towards the girl’s shoulder.
         “I YIELD!” The tamer shouted frantically, scrambling forwards and fruitlessly pounding against Cyrene’s side as she stayed her axe. “Please.” He sobbed.
         Cyrene peeled her fingers apart, the Love Dove falling limply to the ground. “That’s a nice pokegirl.” Daniel called amicably. “Thanks for the battle.”
         “Please, I’ll do anything.” The boy whispered. “Don’t take her.”
         “Buy her back.” Daniel replied, plucking the pokeball from his hand and recalling the Love Dove. “She’s quite the rare pokegirl.” He glanced at Cyrene. “Or should we keep her?”
         Cyrene turned and spat at the ground.
         Daniel chuckled. “Well that decides that. I need to sell her.” He smiled. “You willing to buy?”
         The tamer numbly pulled out his pokedex and held it out to Daniel. “Anything.” He mumbled.
         Daniel navigated to the credits transfer screen, his eyes narrowing as he read the total. “I think 300,000 oughta do it.” He said, keying in the numbers and holding the pokedex back for verification. “And you probably don’t want to hear it, but somebody needs to tell you.” He continued as the kid gingerly took back his pokegirl. “This world won’t just roll over and let you win. You’ve been gifted a very rare, very powerful pokegirl. If you choose to use her for her sex appeal, that’s fine. But letting her do nothing but wag her tits at people will get you hurt.” He frowned. “As you just found out.”
         The tamer nodded. “What’s your name?” He asked curiously.
         “None of your business.” Daniel replied, quickly ushering Lea and Cyrene away. “Have good day, kid.”
         The three moved quickly out of the city, Daniel not slowing until they were well out of sight. “Spoiled brat.”
         “Yeh knew him, Master?” Cyrene asked.
         “No. But he’s stupid or trusting enough to have kept his entire account open when he handed me his pokedex. He had well over 100 million SLC.”
         Cyrene’s jaw dropped. “Why did yeh only ask for 300,000??”
         “Because I wasn’t trying to rob the idiot.” Daniel groused. “Plus, if I did, I’m sure he’s got parents who would pay out the nose to have me found. That’s why I didn’t give him my name.”
         “Well, does that mean we won’t be going up north?” Lea asked hopefully.
         Daniel snorted. “That just cancelled out what happened with the Titto a few months ago, but I’m still not rich enough to lounge around. I’ll need around two million SLC to safely pay for everything I’m looking to buy.”
         Lea blanched. “THAT MUCH?”
         “Yep.” Daniel replied with a sigh. “So we’re still going to need that job.”
         “Well, how far is it?” Lea asked curiously.
         Daniel pulled up his map and checked the coordinates. “About two hours’ walk.”
         “That’s not too bad.” Lea said, stretching. “I’d like to meet Noeth before we get there, though.” She grinned. “I need time to guess what her name means.”
         “You won’t need any.” Daniel muttered. “But sure.” He came to a halt and pulled Trish and Noeth’s pokeballs from his belt. “We haven’t seen you in two weeks. I’m sure everyone has catching up to do.”
         He released Trish, walking a few steps before releasing Noeth, the Loner looking around at the small crowd and immediately hiding behind him.
         “You know these two.” Daniel said gently, gesturing at Cyrene and Trish. “The other one is Lea. She’s the one I said might be able to teach you.”
         Noeth screwed her eyes shut and stepped out from behind Daniel. Taking a few deep breaths she opened them and released her pent up breath in the same motion. “Hi.” She whispered. “I’m Noeth.”
         “What’s with the attitude?” Lea asked in amusement. “She’s making me think you named her coward or something.”
         “It’s a bit more obvious than that.” Daniel replied, squeezing Noeth’s bare butt. “She’s a Loner. She’s afraid of crowds.”
         “Huh.” Lea looked the shorter girl up and down. “Nice body.” She blinked. “Naked? Is that what it means?”
         Daniel chuckled. “Yup.”
         “I am going to find you some clothes as SOON as possible.” Lea started grumbling. “Perverted guy making you walk around flashing your titties ‘s gonna get a piece of my mind.”
         “I actually like being naked.” Noeth piped up. “Daniel has already bought me clothes that I like.”
         That stopped Lea’s grumbling but it didn’t stop her from glaring daggers at the amused man. “You lost me so you picked up a better version, eh?” She snipped.
         “Completely by accident.” Daniel said with a grin.
         “Well, whatever.” Lea grumbled. “C’mere, girl.” She called, grabbing Noeth’s shoulder and steering her away. “Let’s talk about what you want to know.”
         Daniel glanced at Trish and Cyrene and the three shared a laugh before continuing down the road.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

         Daniel rapped on the wooden door and stepped back, the door opening after a moment to reveal a heavily pregnant Milktit, her engorged breasts hooked up to a small pump tank that hummed softly. She looked at him and his bodyguards in confusion before brightening and turning back to the house. <”TAMER’S HERE!”> She shouted in welsh.

         Daniel heard the scraping of wood and some mild cursing before the Milktit was pushed aside and a burly man filled the door, looking at Trish and Cyrene. “Daniel Adams?” He asked, glancing down and sticking out his hand. “Thanks for getting here so quickly.”

         Daniel grasped the man’s wrist. “My pleasure, Mr. Gabhann. I’m happy to help.”

         The man’s face broke into a smile and he stepped aside, gesturing Daniel and his girls inside. “Please, come in. I was hopin’ I’d get a local boy, but you never know with those blasted sites.”

         Daniel ducked inside, smiling at the Milktit and receiving a small smile back. “So, what seems to be the problem?”

         “Something a bit unusual, I’m afraid.” The man replied, sitting back down at his table and gesturing the Milktit over. “Take a look.”

         He popped one of the suction cups off, wiping the pokegirl’s nipple and pointing at a set of small marks around the areolae. “Tooth marks. I’m sure of it. They started showin’ up on my girls a few weeks ago, and milk production has been down since. I tried to keep the herd inside, and that worked, but a few nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night to screaming. By the time I got down there, one of the Minotaura was dead. Butchered, and half the herd was completely dry of milk.” He gestured sadly. “Completely. They usually produce around seven gallons overnight, but in the morning I only weighed in at an average of four. After that I brought Lessa here inside and let the herd back out, the ones who would, anyways. Something scared them stiff and I’m not going to risk her litter.” He licked a dribble of milk off Lessa’s teat and popped the cup back on, the machine instantly sending milk gushing into the tank until it stabilized.

         Daniel nodded slowly. “Did you see anything?” He asked the Milktit, who stared at him blankly. <”Sorry. Did you see anything?”>

         She shook her head, grimacing as she massaged her breasts until the machine was seated properly. <”I was one of the lucky ones.”> She replied. <”Near the back. I heard it, though. Hissing and sucking and then Ashley started roarin’. Next thing I knew the screaming started.”>

         The farmer nodded. “Ashley was the Alpha of the herd. I’m still dumbfounded that she bit it. Gonna need a new one, since Bailey and Charlie can barely keep the line now.”

         Daniel sighed, pulling out his pokedex and inputting a search. “I’ll see what I can do, but I don’t know of any specific breeds that act like this. Might be some cat-types.” He glanced up. “How’d they get into the barn?”

         “That I can help ya with.” The man replied, standing and motioning for Daniel to follow. “There was a small window they busted in. One second.” He stuck his head out a window. “LASSIE!”

         Daniel watched as what he thought had been a boulder unfolded, the towering pokegirl loping along until she was clearly visible. “She’ll watch the house while we’re out in the field.” The farmer said, stepping out the back door and turning to the St. Bernatit as she came running up. “I’m going out in the fields. Watch Lessa, yea?” He asked, the massive dog girl nodding solemnly and plopping down in front of the door.

         “That’s a lot of girl.” Daniel said in amazement, Cyrene actually shying away as the larger pokegirl had passed her. “She just for security?”

         “A bit. The Minotaura usually have that covered, so Lassie spends the rest of her time helping to keep the herd tamed.”

         “I’m sure they see the DD breasts and welcome her right in.” Daniel joked.

         The farmer roared with laughter and clapped Daniel on the back. “They do indeed!” He cried, leading Daniel down a path towards a large barn. “It was a little strange at first, since the herd is half feral most of the time. Her first day, they saw her and bolted. Thought she was coming to eat ‘em!”

         “I’m sure she was quite unhappy with that.”

         The man chuckled. “Oh, no. I had to call her off from chasing them to death. They warmed up to her eventually.”

         Daniel paused and grabbed the man’s arm as they crested the last hill. “That window up there?”

         The man followed Daniel’s finger and nodded. “Yea. Right up-“ He stopped as he saw what Daniel had noticed. “Oh, HELL!”

         A shadow was climbing out of the busted window, dragging something from its mouth as it scaled the building. At the farmer’s yell it turned and bolted, its prize forgotten.

         Daniel scrabbled mentally to find Noeth’s bond. “Pokegirl at the barn. Follow her, don’t get close.” He sent, the farmer yelping in surprise as Noeth appeared next to Daniel before disappearing again.

         “The hell was that?” He cried.

         “My pokegirl.” Daniel replied. “She’s following the feral.” He began running down the hill. “I don’t think we’re going to like what she was carrying.”

         The two men hurried to the barn, Daniel slowing as he realized what the feral had had in its mouth. The farmer was less civil, screaming obscenities as he saw the severed arm. “Fucking SHIT.” He swore, yanking open the barn door and grimacing at the scene inside.

         A handful of Milktits huddled in the corner, their blank eyes telling Daniel they were feral or nearly so. Another lay on the barn floor, her breasts torn off and the remains scattered around. The corpse was fresh, blood still pooling from the severed arm the feral had been carrying.

         “I’ve got to find the rest of the herd.” He said quickly. “Can you drag her outside?” He spat. “Why the hell are they killing em now?”

         “They started with milk, until you shut the herd away.” Daniel replied. “You starved them until they broke in to feed. Then they found out that they could get meat, too.” He looked around. “This barn can’t store milktits anymore. I can guarantee you I won’t find every one of those ferals, and any who escape will teach their children this place has free meat and milk.”

         “What do I do, then?”

         “We have to send a new message.” Daniel replied, doing his best not to look at the corpse. “I’ll stake out tonight. When they come for the herd, I’ll teach them not to.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
         “I finally tracked one.” Noeth relayed. “Catgirls. Tons of them. I think I counted twelve before they noticed me and I had to get away. And that was just the adults and juveniles. They’re also feeding a full litter of kits.”
         “Even if there were only twelve, that’s still a possible thirty or more kits on top.” Daniel muttered. “Shit. We might have a problem tonight.”
         “They know they can get milk, and then they moved on to meat.” Lea said slowly, ticking on her fingers. “If we sent them the message now, they should realize that going for meat means they get hurt.”
         “Good. Perfect.” Daniel pointed at Noeth and Lea. “Noeth, take Lea into position. If the hunters come for the herd tonight, you’re going to wipe out the nest.”
         Lea nodded solemnly and began rifling through his bags, withdrawing a handful of pokeballs. “The kits?”
         “We can’t take them.” Daniel replied, not looking at her. “Capture the ones you can. Kill the ones you can’t.”
         Noeth grabbed Lea and teleported away, leaving Trish and Cyrene staring at Daniel. He glanced at them. “What?”
         They each shook their heads and looked away, Cyrene blinking in the dusk. “Hey, I think that dog is coming this way.”
         Daniel turned to see Lassie running across the field, the St. Bernatit skidding to a halt in front of him. <”Help.”> She said brightly.
         <“You’re here to help?”> Daniel asked, grinning at her nod. <”Good. Follow her.”> He said, pointing at Trish.
         Trish complained as Lassie glomped onto her, the girl’s oversized tits drooping over Trish’s head and hiding her face. Daniel laughed as she happily hummed, Trish’s complaining switching after a few seconds from the boobs to the heat the dog girl was emitting.
         They settled in as the sun fell, each keeping watch over a portion of the Milktit herd as they waited for the ferals to attack. Daniel had started to doze off when he felt a contact in his head. “Most of the adults just left.” Noeth called to him.
         Daniel sat up, glancing at Trish and Cyrene. “Ferals on the move.” He whispered. They nodded, Lassie climbing off Trish and settling in a ready stance, her powerful limbs tensed.
         Daniel spotted movement a few minutes later and nudged Trish, pointing. A shadow moved through the grass, the feral heading straight towards a slumbering Milktit. “Do we let her attack?” Trish whispered.
         Daniel shook his head. “I’d rather not have the herd panicking before the fight as well as during.” He glanced at Lassie, noticing how the girl’s eyes tracked the shadow. <”Kill”>
         The St. Bernatit shot forward, her relatively slow speed offset by the fury she ran with. As she got close to the herd she began barking, the angry sounds crashing into the silence of the night and sending the herd of Milktit into a panic.
         “Cyrene, cover me.” Daniel said rapidly, earning a look of pure relief from the Magic Knight as she moved to protect him. “Trish, there’s others around. Find them, please.” He closed his eyes. “Noeth, do it.
         Trish nodded and slipped into the night, while half a mile away Noeth turned and gave Lea a sad smile. “It’s time.”
         Lea nodded, pulling her helmet from her belt and tightening her straps. “Which have you got?”
         Noeth winced. “I’ll get the kits and their guards.” She looked at her hands sadly. “I can give them a quicker death.”
         Lea patted her gently on the shoulder before yelling, charging into the clearing and sending a Wildcat spinning from a crazed punch. She continued, using the total surprise her entry had given her to decimate the small force of ferals. Behind her Noeth slipped through the shadows, grabbing a pregnant Warcat and slitting her throat, her Dark Blade vanishing as she puked.
         Lea turned to see the body fall and Noeth twist, a second, less pregnant Warcat charging her from behind. Glancing around she grabbed a small log, hefting it and throwing it like a javelin, the blunt end impacting against the feral’s skull and caving it in. The girl was thrown from her feet, the momentum blasting the corpse five feet into the undergrowth. Lea hurried over, pegging her conquests with pokeballs before cradling Noeth’s head gently. “Are you alright?”
         Noeth gasped, her chest heaving as she looked at the feral she had killed. “NO.” She cried, tears beginning to mix with the vomit.
         “We need to get moving.” Lea said gently, wiping Noeth’s mouth with the back of her hand. “The others are going to be coming back. Get back to Daniel. I’ll join you.”
         Noeth shook her head. “No. You need me to… take you back.” She whispered.
         Lea nodded and stepped back. “Don’t watch.” She said quietly, withdrawing a dagger from a hidden sheathe on her thigh.
         Noeth screwed her eyes shut and turned away as Lea walked over to the den and climbed inside. A terrified Wildcat lay there, two kits suckling with a dozen more climbing over her. Lea raised the dagger but stopped when she saw the look on the feral’s face.
         Noeth turned as Lea climbed back out. “I can’t do it.” She said quietly. “But we can’t leave them here.”
         Noeth clutched her face in her hands before she gasped and her eyes widened. “There’s a nursery!” She said excitedly. “In Cardiff! I used to see it from the ranch. It’s outside the city. We can drop them off there!”
         “Good!” Lea exclaimed, sheathing her dagger. “Good. You can teleport. Get there, tell them we have a dozen feral wildcat kits and a lactating mother. If they want to pay you, say you’ll be back later to collect.”
         Noeth nodded, vanishing from sight. She reappeared a few minutes later, a bag slung over her shoulder. “They gave me these.” She said excitedly. “Kit balls, and one for the feral if she’s pregnant.”
         Lea slid back into the den, the maternity pokeball in her hand. “Sorry about this.” She said to the feral, bashing her temple and capturing her as she went limp. The two suckling kits fell to the ground, the den filling with wails as the kits searched for their caretaker.
         Noeth began handing in balls, Lea capturing each kit and handing the filled balls back out until the den was empty. “Is that all?” She called.
         “That’s all of them.” Lea called back. “We gotta get going.”
         “I still killed one.” Noeth whispered sadly.
         “So did I.” Lea snapped back. “But those were Warcats. They would have torn you apart, pregnant, mothers, or not. We saved these.”
         Noeth nodded, slinging the bag over her shoulder again. “Let me get you out of here.”
         They teleported, Noeth letting go and vanishing while Lea looked around. She was in front of the barn so she started climbing the hill, sliding up to where Daniel and Cyrene lay. “How’s it going?”
         “The farmer’s Bernatit took out two of them.” Daniel replied. “They’re Warcats, but you probably already knew that.”
         Lea nodded. “We killed two pregnant Warcats and left them there, but the rest of the pack and the kits are gone. They should get the message.”
         Daniel smiled. “Good job. I’m surprised you were able to kill the kits.” He gave her a knowing smile.
         “Noeth wasn’t too happy.” Lea lied. “But she did what she had to do.”
         “Mmm.” Daniel watched as Trish popped out of her hiding place and sliced open the Warcat Lassie was herding. “Funny. She seemed pretty happy.”
         Lea blinked. “Eh?”
         “We’ve got a bond.” Daniel replied with a grin. “She was unhappy, and a bit nauseous, but then she was a nice little cocktail of relief, happiness, and sympathy.”
         “Oh.” Lea glanced down as Daniel’s pokedex lit up and he checked the message. “And I just got a nice message from a Breeder in Cardiff thanking me for my donation of fourteen Wildcat kits and their mother. And he attached a nice little sum for them.”
         Lea sighed. “Ok. We couldn’t kill the kits.”
         Daniel hugged her. “I’m not angry.”
         “Can you tell Noeth that?” Lea asked. “She threw up after she killed one of the pregnant Warcats. I think you should talk to her.”
         “I already have.” Daniel replied, tapping his skull. “In a much better way than I could ever explain. She’s alright.”
         Lea sighed in relief as another capture beam grabbed a Warcat. “Thank you.”
         “You’ve done me a great favor.” The farmer beamed as he clasped Daniel’s arm. “Not only did yeh save my herd, you gave Lassie the best excitement she’s had in years.” He ruffled the dog girls’ fur, Lassie making happy noises from her seat next to him. “Maybe I should think about givin her to a roamin’ tamer.” He led.
         “Sorry.” Daniel quickly replied. “She’s great, but I prefer the human girls myself.” He focused, raising his ears off the top of his head. “I grew up with fur. I think I’ve had enough for a lifetime.”
         The man laughed and nodded. “I can understand that.” He looked at her thoughtfully. “Maybe I should get her away from the house. Figure out something else for that, so she can guard the fields.”
         “I think she’d enjoy that.” Daniel replied, beaming at the St. Bernatit. “She was a terror to those ferals.”
         “Well, I said I’d pay ya.” The farmer continued, pulling out a handful of credit chips. “How many was it at last count?”
         “Two dead, fourteen captures, and two escaped.” Daniel replied. “That we know of. My girls also rounded up the kits and their mother and have already taken them to a Breeder. He paid me for em, so you don’t need to.”
         “I’ll happily pay for the mother and half per kit.” The farmer scoffed. “How many?”
         “Another fourteen kits.” Daniel said. “So, twenty-four total, counting the kits as half.”
         The farmer counted out twelve chips and handed them over. “And your pay.” He continued, pulling out another chip. “A hundred thousand for saving my business.”
         “My pleasure.” Daniel replied. “I’m sorry we didn’t get here sooner. Might have saved that other Milktit.”
         The farmer waved his hand dismissively. “She wasn’t one of the good ones anyways. The herd knows the top performers get to stay tame. Keeps the yield up.” He nodded at Lessa’s shadow as she moved through the house. “Besides, I’ll replace them soon enough.”
         Daniel smiled. “As you will.” He hitched his bag up, Cyrene drifting around behind him. “Well, good luck, Mr. Gabhann. It was a pleasure doin’ business with you.”
         “And you, sonny.” The farmer called. “Oh! Hold up a sec!” He amended, jogging up to the house and pulling open the door. He disappeared inside, emerging a few moments later with two full jugs of milk. “Lessa sends her regards.”
         Daniel laughed and took them. “Unheated?”
         “Fresh from the tap.” The man replied with a wink. “Those just came outta’ Lessa. If you don’t want your girls lactating, you’ll want to heat it first.”
         “I dunno.” Daniel mused, looking at Cyrene. “Think we might want to give Lea a nice glass before we heat it?”
         Cyrene began laughing but shook her head. “A drunk, lactating Armsmistress. Master, she’d be impossible to deal with.”
         They shared a laugh before the farmer clapped Daniel on his back and turned away. “Thanks again, Mr. Adams. Have a good night.”
         Daniel waved as they walked off before sighing in contentment. “That didn’t take a few weeks at all.”
         “A few days.” Cyrene replied happily. “What was that Master, the third night of the stakeout?”
         “Yep.” Daniel replied. “220,000 SLC, plus sales, for three days work. I’m happy.”
         “How much will we get total?” Cyrene asked.
         Daniel began counting on his fingers. “Mixed quantity of Wildcat and Warcat, 20,000 per Wildcat, 40,000 per Warcat.” He gave up. “Somewhere around 400,000.”
         “So, 600,000 SLC for three days of camping and one night of fighting.” Cyrene said with a grin. “Can we do it again?”
         Daniel laughed. “Maybe. I’ll check when we get back to Cardiff.”
         Daniel yawned as they staggered into the pokecenter, the Rapha on duty brightening when she saw him. “Oh, hello again, Sir!” She called. “It’s been a few weeks since I saw you last.”
         Daniel blinked. “Oh, hi there.” He frowned. “I wasn’t expecting you to remember me, honestly.”
         The Rapha giggled. “We’ve got a picture in the back with your face on it and ‘crazy pain tolerance’ written across in red text.”
         Daniel sighed. “Do you have the branch on display or something?”
         “Yep!”
         Daniel shook his head in exasperation and held out his pokeballs, Cyrene reaching up to trigger her own recall. “Healing and cleaning, please.”
         The Rapha took them and popped them into the machine. “I’ll bring these out to you when I finish.” She said with a smile.
         Daniel nodded and went to sit down, the only other tamer in the center fast asleep. He played with his pokedex for a few minutes, searching the job postings but not finding anything that seemed promising. He accepted his pokeballs from the Rapha when she came back, cycling Cyrene’s release. “Nothing too good.” He explained, showing her the want ads. “Maybe there will be tomorrow, but we’ll probably just head back into the wilds.”
         She nodded and settled down with him, the two quickly falling asleep.
         Daniel stirred when the alarm on his ‘dex went off and shook Cyrene awake. They slipped out of the center as the first few rays of light began to play down the buildings, quickly vacating the city before any other early risers could spot and challenge them.
         “And we’re off.” Daniel muttered, basking in the morning light. “Wonder what we should do now.” He stopped as he noticed a familiar tent off the road. “Hey, wait a second.”
         Cyrene followed him as he stepped off and approached. “Yea, this is Sarah’s.” He explained, looking around. “Wonder if she’s awake yet?”
         Cyrene cocked her head to the side as she listened. “I believe she is still in her tent, Master.”
         Daniel walked over and placed his ear next to it. “Yup. Someone’s having fun in there.” He laughed, the low moans suddenly cutting off when he rapped on the fabric. “Sarah? It’s Daniel!”
         He could hear hurried movement before Sarah popped her head out of the tent flap, keeping it zipped to her chin. “Daniel? What the heck are you still doing around Cardiff?”
         Daniel shrugged. “I was just passing through. Saw the tent, wondered if you might want to catch up. Let me beat the snot out of your pokegirls.”
         Sarah snorted. “In your dreams. But I’ll bite.” She suddenly clamped her teeth together. “I’ll be out in a bit, ok?” She forced out.
         Daniel stuck his fingers to the sides of his mouth and waggled his tongue mockingly, laughing when Sarah ducked back inside and shrieked in pleasure. “Bingo.” He glanced over at Cyrene. “Found something to do.”
         Cyrene blinked. “The woman?”
         “No, no.” Daniel chided. “I meant I found a way to pass the time.” He sighed as he realized it wasn’t helping. “I mean we ain’t gonna fuck.”
         “Why didn’t yeh just say so, Master?” Cyrene replied playfully. “Should we come back when she’s not busy?”
         Daniel shrugged. “We should be-“ He stopped as his pokedex buzzed and he pulled up the message. “Oh, shit. It’s my dad.” He answered the call. “Hey, dad!”
         “Hey bud.” His father replied, a grin on his face. “I know it’s only been a few days, but I’ve got a surprise for you.”
         Daniel looked at the screen expectantly. “You got a stone?”
         “Better.” His dad crowed. “You near a pokecenter?”
         “Uh, I could be.” Daniel replied. “What’s up?”
         “I’m sending you a present.” His dad replied. “Well, not really a present. I’ll need 1.4 million SLC from you when you can.”
         Daniel choked but nodded. “Ok. I can do that.”
         “Good. Cardiff?”
         “Cardiff. Not the gym center, the other one.”
         “Will do.” His dad replied.
         Daniel stepped back over, ignoring the cries. “Take your time.” He called. “I’ll be back in a bit.”
         He heard a breathy ‘Uh huh’ mixed in with Sarah’s moans and walked off, shaking his head. “She’s found someone she likes.” He remarked to Cyrene.
         Cyrene laughed as they walked back to the pokecenter. “Jealous, Master?”
         “I have you.” Daniel replied, reaching up to kiss her lips. “I think I’m alright.”
         Cyrene kissed back, breaking off quickly when she remembered they were in public. “Yeh say the nicest things.”
         “I mean them.” Daniel replied, pushing back into the center. The tamer that had been spending the night was gone, and he bee lined to the counter. “Good morning. I believe I have a transfer pending, for Daniel Adams?”
         The Rapha held out her hand. “Pokedex, please.”
         Daniel handed it over and she plugged it in, reading the message that popped up. “I’m going to have to ask you for a DNA sample.”
         Daniel reached up, pulling a few strands of hair free and depositing them in the container the Rapha held out. She capped it and slid it into a small slot. “It will just be a moment.”
         After a minute a light flashed green and the Rapha stood. “I’ll retrieve your delivery, Mr. Adams.” She said, flashing him a smile as she walked off.
         “DNA sample.” Daniel grumbled. “Of course he did.”
         They waited, Daniel frowning. “It’s been nearly ten minutes. What’s taking her so long?”
         On cue the door opened, although it wasn’t the Rapha that emerged, but a different, white winged pokegirl. She walked out and nodded to Daniel. “Mr. Adams, I apologize for the wait. The Rapha was called away, so I brought your delivery for you.” She placed two pokeballs on the table. “Have a wonderful day.”
         Daniel looked at them in confusion. “Two? I was expecting one.” He shrugged. “Must have been why dad was so excited.” He took them and nodded gratefully. “Thank you, Miss.”
         The pokegirl waved, waiting for him to leave before turning and reentering the back room, slapping the pokegirl that was taped to the wall. “I told you not to interfere.” She said irritably and rubbed at a bruise forming on her neck.
         Angelica squirmed, her markings flaring every few seconds before dulling when Nika’s magic overrode her attempts. Her mouth was securely sealed, so all she could manage was angry groans.
         “I told you, I don’t want to hurt him.” Nika said impatiently. “I don’t even want to control him. She’s just a gift. I do apologize about the other one that was meant to be there, the Lupina or whatever she was. She’s on her way to a nice boy in Capital.” She rolled her eyes. “Probably did the poor child a favor. How do you think he would have felt? It would have been as if he was taming his mother!” She said in disgust.
         Angelica made a questioning noise, Nika laughing. “Don’t you worry about that. Your silly master has been notified, by you, that you won’t be back for a while. I can’t have you interrupting Daniel before he makes his choice.” She bopped Angelica’s nose, receiving an angry growl. “Oh, please. I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun together. For, you know. The next month or two.”
         By the time Daniel made it back to Sarah’s campsite she was out and dressed, busily cooking some sort of breakfast.
         She looked up as he approached and waved. “How’s it goin’?” She called.
         “Not as good as whatever you were doing this morning.” Daniel replied with a grin. “Challenged the gym yet?”
         Sarah nodded. “Got a badge fight set up for tomorrow.”
         “Good luck.” Daniel replied. “I nearly lost mine.”
         “Well, I’d like to think I’m better than you.” Sarah said sadly.
         Daniel grinned. “Want to find out?”
         “Definitely.” Sarah stirred the pan she was holding. “After breakfast alright?”
         “Fine by me.” Daniel replied. “I’ve got something to take care of anyways.”
         Sarah shrugged, turning her attention back to her cooking while Daniel ambled back to where Cyrene waited. “Do you think I should evolve Trish now?” He asked quietly.
         “She probably wishes to be evolved as soon as possible.” Cyrene whispered back.
         Daniel nodded and held out the two pokeballs he had received. “Let’s see which one’s which.” He muttered, pointing his pokedex at the first one. “Perfect! Kamichu.” He started to scan the second but stopped. “Eh. I’ll save that one for later.”
         Putting his gear away he hefted the Kamichu’s pokeball and triggered the release. The girl materialized standing up, a bored look on her face as she took in her surroundings and focused on Daniel. “Hey. You the guy?”
         Daniel blinked. “I’m sorry?”
         “The guy. Daniel.”
         Daniel nodded. “That’s me.”
         “Sweet.” The Kamichu reached into the pocket of her bodysuit and withdrew a Dawn Stone, passing it to him. “That’s yours now. As am I, I guess.” She sighed. “Whatever.”
         Daniel looked at her in bemusement. “You don’t even know me and you’re writing me off already.”
         “Well, sure.” The girl replied. “You’re a plain looking guy, and from what I heard you’re a new tamer. So I’ll carry you through a couple of badges, I’ll evolve, carry you through the championship. Repeat next year.” She waved her hand dismissively. “If I’m wrong it’ll be a welcome surprise.”
         “You’re wrong.” Cyrene stated, moving forwards and towering over the Kamichu. “We’ll be carrying you.”
         “Cute.” The girl turned away with a shrug. “Well, we’ll see.”
         Daniel hefted the Dawn Stone in one hand and Trish’s pokeball in the other. “Gonna get this out of the way.”
         Trish appeared, her weapons hanging at her side and the Kamichu snorted. “Wuzzat, a Slicer? Damn. This is totally going to be difficult.”
         Trish turned slowly to look at the new girl. “And who are you?”
         “Nobody, yet.” The Kamichu replied. “But I can see it’ll be pretty easy to pass you on the totem pole.”
         “Trish.” Daniel called. “Come take this and see what she says afterwards.”
         Trish turned. Upon seeing the Dawn Stone she strode forwards, quickly reaching out to grab ahold of it. Daniel shielded his eyes as she began to glow, the light dying down after a few moments, with Trish already gone.
         The Kamichu gulped, the sparkling blade of Trish’s Wakizashi sitting a hair away from her neck while the newly evolved Samurai glared at her. “Where are you on the totem pole?” She asked very quietly.
         “The bottom!” The Kamichu yelped, prompting Trish to sheathe her weapon and step away.
         “Shit. I’m not the tallest anymore.” Cyrene complained. Trish had shot up from the evolution, standing a few inches above her. Trish’s chest had expanded as well, though on her taller frame they seemed smaller than Cyrene’s Ds. She was clad in a dark robe, and as she turned Daniel could see that her hair had well over doubled in length, now hanging to her waist. As she turned fully to Daniel he frowned, studying her face.
         “You look… More experienced. Maybe a year older.” He said, looking up at her. “It suits you.”
         Trish blinked her thanks and stepped around him, taking up a position at his left shoulder.
         “Where the fuck did that one come from?” Sarah called in amazement, having finally looked up from her breakfast. “Is that the Slicer?” She nodded at Trish’s back. “Nice crest.”
         “She was. And thanks.” Daniel called back. “Now then.” He said, turning his attention back to the Kamichu. “Would you like another demonstration?”
         “I’m sure the others aren’t as strong as your Alpha.” The Kamichu reasoned, eeping as Cyrene’s axe materialized in her face.
         “I’m the Alpha.” Cyrene said, fully clad in her armor and glaring daggers at the Kamichu. “Would you like yet another demonstration?”
         “Who else ya got?” The girl asked weakly.
         Daniel triggered Lea’s release as Cyrene dismissed her weaponry again, the Armsmistres reading the mood and turning to glower at the now suitably terrified girl. “We punchin’?”
         “No! no No NO we’re fine!” She squeaked, backpedaling slightly to distance herself from the three pokegirls. “I get it! I get it. I’m the new kid here.”
         “Not completely.” Daniel reasoned. “You have some competition. Noeth is my Loner, and there’s still another pokegirl that I might be adding today or tomorrow. You’ve got room to work with.”
         “With the way you work, that Loner would probably gut me in the blink of an eye.”
         Daniel shrugged, holding up Noeth’s pokeball. “Why don’t we see?”
         “I’ve actually been training her pretty hard.” Lea remarked as Noeth materialized. “But it’s only been a few days.”
         Noeth glanced around, evaluating Trish’s new look before turning to the Kamichu. “So, what’s all this?” She asked cautiously.
         “Just a bit of hazing.” Cyrene stage whispered to her. “Look menacing.”
         Noeth frowned, glancing at her nude body. “But I’m soft and cuddly.”
         The Kamichu giggled slightly, clamming up when Cyrene glared at her. “Just do the blade thing.” Cyrene whispered again.
         Noeth shrugged, summoning her Dark Blade and waving at the Kamichu. “Hiii!”
         The girl laughed, waving back. “Hi.” She looked around, back at ease. “I think I changed my mind. This will work.”
         “Good.” Daniel moved forwards. “I’d hate to have to turn around and just sell you off, but I would have if I needed to.”
         The girl shook her head. “Nope. I’m good.”
         “Perfect. Got a name?” He hummed when she shook her head. “Alright. How does Aria sound?”
         “Pretty.” Aria replied. “No idea what it means, though.”
         “I think it’s a type of song.” Daniel replied. “Not sure. I just like the name.”
         Aria beamed. “A beautiful name for a beautiful girl?”
         “Sure. Go with that.” Lea muttered. “A beautiful name for a long haired flat-chested girl, maybe.”
         Aria covered her chest with an arm and pouted. “Flat’s better.”
         “It’s not.” Cyrene, Noeth, and Lea all chorused together before sharing a laugh.
         “I’m sure she’ll grow out when she evolves.” Daniel soothed, doing his best to save Aria’s ego. “Well, anyways. Aria, this is Cyrene, Lea, Noeth, and the scary one behind me is Trish.” He looked over to see Sarah putting away her cookware. “And the human girl over there is Sarah. She’s an old friend and semi rival. Cyrene, Lea, and Trish are going to be fighting her in a three versus three later.”
         “I look forward to seeing how much better than me they are.” Aria remarked drily.
         “I’d be happy to train you.” Lea offered. “I’m already teaching Noeth a few things.”
         “Know any magic?” Aria asked.
         Lea blinked. “No?”
         “Then no thanks.”
         “I know some magic.” Cyrene replied. “While I wouldn’t be as happy to teach you, I’m sure we can work something out.”
         “I’m ready.” Daniel heard Sarah call as she walked over. “And, since you’ve shown me yours, I might as well show you mine.”
         “I’d like to do a three on three.” Daniel clarified. “Have a short but interesting match.”
         “Sure.” Sarah replied, pulling a handful of pokeballs off her belt. “I’ve been busy too.” She said as she rapidly cycled the releases.
         A wide variety of pokegirls appeared, Daniel recognizing only the Amazon Jackie in the mix. “You sure have.” He replied, impressed. “Who’s who?”
         “You know Jackie.” Sarah said, pointing to her. “Then we’ve got Abilene, the Ivywhore, Eirene, the Nogitsune hiding in the back, Sabrina, the Kad-D-Bra, and Zoe, my Marylith.”
         Daniel nodded, running his gaze over each of them. “It was Abilene this morning, I take it.”
         Sarah giggled. “Nope. But she’s pretty good.”
         “Huh.” Daniel gestured for her to take the lead. “Let’s get started.”
