Heyo folks. No, I'm not dead. Just working too much to live life lately.
This chapter went through not one, not two, but three teardowns and rewrites - two of which resulted in me having to rewrite another 5-10k words that were forming scenes for Chapter 40. So, uh, I have a lot of materiel now that may never be used. Oh well.
Chapter 39 is finally here - I hope you enjoy. Some backstory, some backbone, and a smidge of sexy. All things in balance as they should be.
